I have heard from Monorail Pilots the 1st of 3 New Monorails will be online 11/22?

I have heard from Monorail Pilots the 1st of 3 New Monorails of the new Design will be online 11/22?

Can anyone confirm or elaborate on this? Preferably a CM in the Know.

I have also heard the new Monorails now have closed windows and A/C for safety, .... of course one can only hope the power never fails as it did for one of the old ones last week!

^Sounds like you got some gossip....

Heck, one of the CM's asked me this week when the Monorail's were coming.

Pretty sure there will be no A/C, as I understand it, the weight and electrical load would be too much for the current track.

I would love to see a new monorail train soon, the current ones need to be either refurbed or retired...

Gee, the CM's think you might have a better link to the rumor mill than they do? Who'da Thunk It?

Have to agree that A/C is probably not in the cards for the existing DL Monorail train profile - there isn't much extra room underneath the cars to put the equipment and the ducting. For the "full size" trains at WDW and Las Vegas they could design the A/C into the body.

Weight is a concern, but can be fixed with heavier tires. Power can be fixed with added pickup arms and beefed up rectifier plants.

Heck, it was a MONORAIL CM that asked me about when the new Monorail would arrive.

Basically we both agreed that when we see it we will believe it!

Purple has been down for a few days getting some much needed TLC.

I was very much under the impression that the Monorails already had A/C (but that some of the trains A/C tended to be broken more oft than not). Some Monorail CMs were discussing this and I overheard them. Maybe they were crazy?

There is A/C in the front and back cabs (no windows that lower), in fact they won't allow guests to ride in either end if the A/C is not working.

But there is no A/C in the main seating sections.

The current ones look like are about to fall off the beam. They're like old airplanes; crammed, smelly, and barely holding together.

Yeah, the fleet is in really bad shape. Just about everything is worn or falling apart. The resort is in desperate need of the new monorails.

No A/C in the new trains. No specific arrival date of the new train. Our projection is November, I've heard some pilots say the 22nd, but I've not heard anyone actually confirm that date, so I've no idea where they got that date from. I've talked to the shop guys, and they have no clue either.

Oh and...purple is being overhauled. 4 and half more weeks to go without her...

I was so hoping for AC. Maybe in the far future they can replace the entire beam with something a little heavier and larger clearances.

That's interesting. As much as I enjoy riding in the very front (or back), I've hesitated lately because of memories of a hot, stuffy ride. Frankly, when we decided to go ahead and re-enjoy the experience recently, I was surprised to be greeted with cool, brisk air-conditioning. Perhaps the rule is relatively recent? (or has it been that long? did the older Marks have a/c too?)
