    Question Mad tea party madness

Is it me or did the wheels to spin the teacups get harder to spin?
I heard that a handicapped person fell out a while back.
    Did they tighten them?
    Hmm very curious...

They do not spin as fast anymore. This is for certain. Why this was done who knows. Probably to much clean up work afterwards.

They were changed about 3 years ago from what I remember it was due to a guest falling out. He was not seriously injured.

I thought they had returned them to "normal" but I could be mistaken...

They changed the gear ratios to make them harder to spin. Quite annoying. It used to be fun to get three really strong guys in there and really get it going.

Thankfully they haven't done this to WDW's teacups. I'm not a very strong girl, but I can get those cups spinning pretty good all by myself. Wheeeee!

I agree. It was much more fun when you could reach escape velocity.

Hey, at least they are better now then when they first tightened them up. They are not like they used to be, but they are easier than when they were first tightened a couple of years ago.

It does stink that they changed the Teacups. It was great when the cups spun so fast you couldn't keep your head from falling back...

I LOVE that feeling!!! I haven't been able to enjoy one of my favorite rides since 2005...All because one person "fell over" in a cup.

As Jeff said, they are now governed and will not permit you to go past a certain rotational velocity.

I heard that the ones in Magic Mountain are still ungoverned though.

However you can always maximize your linear velocity by getting as far as possible from the center.

So if you lean back as far as possible your head will be going around in circles faster than the rest of you.

But better hope no passing bird swoops down and ...
