Walt's stinky apartment

I went to the park yesterday and was exiting the park when a thought came across my mind that never occurred to me. Walt's apartment is in a nice location, right above the fire station. But it is also close to and above the restrooms. It all of a sudden occurred to me -- When Walt actually stayed at his apartment, were those bathrooms there? I was thinking this because I am sure on many days, especially hot summer days and the traffic that these bathrooms have, things could have gotten rather stinky for poor old Walt up in his apartment.

Were the bathrooms always there, or were they added after Walt's passing? Just curious...

You know its funny i was thinking that exact thing when I was leaving the park last night at closing. They may have been there, I doubt they would have added them after. Also back whenm walt stayed there i doubt they had the kind of attendence or traffic they have now.

Walt ate chili and chain-smoked. Chances are he was passing more than enough gas on his own to make up the difference.

When I visited Walt's Apartment, I never got a whiff of anything, other than the eggs benedict I was enjoying on the patio.

But to answer the OP, I did check my 1958 Disneyland map, and it shows the restrooms in the same location as they are now.

It's not as though they have open pits for human waste there. I mean they actually have modern plumbing, even though the theme is the 1910's.

I think people were a bit more fastidious back then too, and the horrid bathrooms we walk into today were not as awful as they were back then. Nevertheless, I do think you have a good point... There must have been some pretty rank smelling moments.

People did not go to the bathroom in the 1950s; they saved it all up for the 1960s. That's why that decade was so tumultuous.

Heck...they used to hold horses in the small stalls in the Fire Station directly below Walt's apartment. I think the human bathrooms were the least of his olfactory worries.
