![]() | Re: WDW Tower of Terror vs. DCA Tower of Terror I'm pretty biased, I worked Merch at the Florida version, but I have to say I like the one at DCA better. The drops give you more air time, the boiler room is better, there are more little things for Twilight Zone fans and the ghost mirror effect is awsome. The only part about Florida's I like better is the lobby.

![]() | Re: WDW Tower of Terror vs. DCA Tower of Terror The theming alone makes WDW's TOT better by far. It is the perfect attraction from the que to the surprises inside. Better themeing, it lasts longer than DCA's, more surprises, better build up of suspense, same cool drop. C'mon! If you really have ridden both, how in the heck can you prefer DCA's lame copy! I say this and DLR is my home park... but I just gotta be honest!

![]() | Re: WDW Tower of Terror vs. DCA Tower of Terror I have to say that the WDW version is better. Now I am a Disneyland fanatic, but to be honest the WDW version is better. First the larger exterior queue and magical sign set the stage in Florida. Then when one gets to the mysterious basement, there is a sparking generator that has seen its best days. At WDW burnt electrical scent pours into the basement creating more anxiety. In the elevator, riders travel through a REAL third dimension. Somehow the stars before you rip in two, and you travel into blackness. Lastly, the drops are more random and varied. I know because I have to ride this about three or four times when I get to WDW. After riding it in California, I was not that impressed with the DCA version. Now it is a great ride, but not as fanciful and chilling as the DMGM version. |

MGM's TRANSPORTS YOU THROUGH THE TWLIGHT ZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the Florida version, you enter a SERVICE elevator in the BOILER ROOM in the modern day, then you TRAVEL through the TWILIGHT ZONE, and when the elevator door open, you're in the GUEST elevator, in the LOBBY and it is the 1930... The run down old hotel is now new and clean!!!!!!! The DCA version, you leave the boiler room and go through a hallway into the service elevator. After bouncing up and down a bit, the doors open and you've un-magically traveled to the EXACT SAME hallway and EXACTSAME service elevator where you started. I can't imagine anyone having riden both and still liking DCA's (lame-arse in comparison) version better unless it is some kind of misplaced west-coast pride/loyalty thing..... | |

![]() | Re: WDW Tower of Terror vs. DCA Tower of Terror Dude, take your blood pressure medication! I agree with you, totally, dude. (And you can see, dude, that I'm obviously Californian, man, 'cause the way I write.) An elevator is not suppose to deviate from its one dimension (well, two, if you count time). That's what so Twilighty about it. DCA's: well, you do go backward, but it's right at the beginning. That's not so Twilighty.

![]() | I have been on both and I have to say they both have their own merrits. I rode the WDW one back in 1998 on my honeymoon and in 2003. Then my wife and I rode the DCA version when it opened. I can't say I prefer one over the other but they are both good rides in and of themselves. WDW has a great location, queue and 5t dimension room. The ambiance of the grounds outside, the larger hotel structure combined with the music in the queue give you the great forboding feeling like you just walked into something that hasn't been touched since 1939. The interior hotel is nice and spacious and the Elevator doors are in the proper place in relation to the building. The Boiler Room is ok, detailed but I think DCA's has the advantage here since it is a double-decker. The ride is just awesome, with the 5th dimension room and the figures IN the shaft, not to mention the random drop sequence. It is a nice touch that you exit in a totally different location is typical for most WDW attractions when compared to their DL counterparts (i.e. POTC, IASW, SM, etc.) DCA has a great Boiler Room, mirror effect, and hallway effect. The grounds and location are definitely lacking here though they are limited on space at DCA. The 1939 feeling just isn't there, yet. Hopefully they can get more greens in or do something to make it a little more forboding. The Lobby is nice, not as spooky as WDW though. The Boiler Room, as I mentioned, is just great. The details and the 360 degree experience is much better here I think. The ride itself has the great mirror effect which while not as physically cool as moving forward like in WDW is a nice way to make DCA's unique. Now if they could add the human figures in the shaft like WDW that would be good too. There needs to be more tie-ins to the backstory of the attraction. I don't have any issues with arriving back at the same location I left on my trip to The Twilight Zone. In time (once they put the random program in) the DCA version will come up to speed with its WDW cousin. So my answer, I don't think one is 100% better than the other, they are both unique and offer a similar yet unique ride experience at each park. |

![]() | Re: WDW Tower of Terror vs. DCA Tower of Terror Ill tell you why... I know i might the minority here, but i dont like the WDW version because of the part when the ride vehicle leaves the elevator shaft and travels forward. i much rather prefer the straight up and down ride of DCAs ToT. however i do think that WDW ToT is presented better from the outside. Its much more menacing and is a lot bigger looking. the queue is even a lot better and spookier. but based on my actual ride experience from both parks, i side with DCA. Thank you and come again.
