Re: A Sneek Peek? (Grizzly Peak concept art)

The concept of Condor Flats is basically useless and I think this idea would be much better way to embody the entire area.

I also like that I don't see that silly Grizzly trail thing on there anymore, but I can't really make out what has taken its place.

The Grizzly Peak area is arguably the most successful concept at DCA presently. It deserves to evolve into a suitable land with its own entrance from the hub of the park that Condor Flats now uses. With Grizzly River Run, Soarin, the rumored Grizzly Peak Railway, and whatever they are planning to replace Redwook Creek Trail with, this area just might end up as DCA's answer to Frontierland.

Yay! Here's a thumbnail to the scanned in and pasted-together concept art:

I have to agree with Rocket Jet, the Grizzly Peak area is VERY well executed and it would be an excellent area to expand.

And taking a closer look, I do not see any evidence of a railway or animatronic animals around Grizzly Peak. Maybe those ideas just didn't make it into this painting?

Looking at the higher-resolution scan, I think that is still Redwood Creek Challange Trail in the upper left-hand corner. Here's a link to an aerial image from Live Search:

To me, the concept art buildings appear to be in the same layout, including the double slides.

I wonder if the rumored railway is in fact the street cars.

I think you're right... If you select the "Bird's Eye View" (facing West) you can tell the Redwood Trail remains unchanged in the concept art.

I really hope there's more to the current plans than this simple overlay. Perhaps this is one of the older "placemaking" projects; for the most part all that's changed in the Grizzly Area are more trees and some new facades slapped on the existing buildings.

The trolley stop is intriguing, however...

Thanks for the high res scan.

It's interesting. Not much besides Condor Flats seems changed. Although, I am very interested in seeing the new fountain and streetcars in Sunshine Plaza.

Speaking of Sunshine Plaza - I wonder what this area will be called if its being completely re-themed?

My first impression: Gone is the California Zephyr.

And look at that new fountain in--what used to be--Sunshine Plaza. I doubt that the park would include TWO water features in an entrance plaza. That probably means that the other one is on its way out. Last two times I was in the park, it wasn't working anyway.

OMG!!! the California Zephyr is gone!!!! that place was really cool and it would have fit the area even more saying that it only traveled along the most beautiful places in CA. DARN!

Wow, good catch, I totally missed that. Interesting that the Zephyr will be removed, I'm curious if the re-theming without the Zephyr will be an improvement or not, since I think the Zephyr could have still worked in the area since the Sunshine Plaza is going to become a transportation hub of sorts.

I haven't been on the trail behind the rapids in awhile, but isn't THIS new?

Or am I just woefully unobservant?
