Surprise anniversary trip

So The surprise trip I have been planning for four months is approaching fast. We leave for DL on the 28th of september. I still can't believe that I have kept this trip a secret for this long. I usually slip up and give it away.

But I need some help, I would like to send my wife a few (3-5) cards with little clues that would build up to her finding out the night before we leave. My problem is I don't know how to give vague clues about going to DL without blowing the secret too fast. Does anyone have some idea's. She knows we are going on a trip, but has no clue that it is going to be DL.

Thanks for any help you can give making up clues!!!

Re: Surprise anniversary trip

you could drop little hintd about her going to a happy place or being really happy.

I'd be careful though.... hints could be dangerous...

You should really throw her off. Don't give her any clues directly relating to Disneyland or happiness or anything. Not trying to be mean here, for example you can say, "We will be vactioning close to an adult bookstore and a strip club." Which is actually true -- just 2 miles south on Harbor...

Sounds like your pretty familiar of the places!

I'm just kidding I noticed one last year when me and my family were trying to find a Walmart. We were shocked! how close it was to Disneyland.

A little clue for her could be. Its fun and can be romantic at the same time.

lol Yes! That's so true! And a place where they give you wood... Ganahl Lumber...

Tell her they have a nice club there in case you wanted to go "clubbin". And a pretty good bar we could hit.

And if she somehow figures it out, just play it cool and recover.
Example:

"Are we going to Disneyland?! :-D" You calmly reply, "I guess we could make that part of our trip, but I did have plans....." or "That would actually be pretty cool, now that you mention it!"

Romantic, eh? Tell her you're going to watch the stars, and take her on Peter Pan's Flight.

Re: Surprise anniversary trip

I don’t think you should give a hint at all. I think you should blindfold her and drive there, park and guide her to the tram, and maybe just before she gets to that point, she’ll figure it out and then you can say, “Surprise” as you take off the blindfold. I like suspense and mystry. The thrill of knowing you planned a wonderful trip. I think you should keep it quite up to the point of her guessing on her own.

I did this once for my first anniversary. I made a picnic lunch, blindfolded my husband and drove to the place we got married in. He never guessed it at all until I took the blindfold off revealing the exact location we exchanged vows one year earlier. We got married in a beautiful outdoor setting with a gazebo and rose garden so it was perfect for a picnic to reminisce about our past year of life together and dream of the future.

Re: Surprise anniversary trip

WOW thanks everyone...It sounds like the answer is to not tell her and jsut show up at DL. I have gone over a few ways to throw her off including taking different routes to get there. We live in central Ca. so the blind fold thing would proabley not work. The down fall to taking the normal route is she is going to know where we are going as soon as I drop south of Bakersfield. Oh well even when she figures out that DL is the place I have so many other "surprises" in store while we are there that it should be really fun to watch her face. And that is even without having to go to the adult bookstore. lol
