How about Stockton. They could have a Casey at the Bat dark ride.

The words FRESNO and EXTRAVAGANZA just don't seem to stick together that well.

Re: What Area Of California Is Missing In California Adventure In Your Opinion?

Okay, because it's late and I found this thread endearing... I have some ideas for underreprestend California places that could use some love and I want to help the Imagineers with some ideas... here goes...

    Barstow... Gateway to Sincity!

Galt... pick and area of DCA that is empty, far away from everything else... then put up a gas station with an out of order bathroom.

Oxnard... a town with a name that fun deserves it's own attraction.

At the front gate, they should have an agricultural checkpoint...ask guests if they have any produce, etc. Make them check their bags for fruit or plants. Then it would REALLY feel like you are entering California.

The Central Valley... perhaps a chance to honor Steinbeck and it would give you a chance to have one of those signs found near a number of the prisons in that area that says, "Do not pick up hitch hikers for the next 7 miles"

They should have a ride called "Interstate 5". It could be a really LONG ride, really straight... it would go REALLY fast, be really hot and dusty, you could zoom by a large number of cattle in the middle of it that includes a rank smell of cow poo...and at the end there should be a Carl's Jr. with a semi-unpleasant restroom.

Graffiti on virtually every vertical surface, signs printed in every language from Farsi to Spanish with no English translations, along with a few hundred shopping carts scattered around the Park, would really give the place the feeling of California!

Just for a "fun fact"...Oxnard is named after the Oxnard brothers, who first brought this Ventura County coastal town fame and fortune in the sugar beet industry.

I wouldn't mind an Oxnard attraction since the only reference to Ventura County I've seen is the "Point Mugu Tattoo" place on the pier...

And, with reference to Galt, OFF TOPIC:

They could retheme MMadness to the Kern Canyon. It could be one heck of a ride, large jutting rocks on one side and a drop to the river on the other. Any time it rains there is a rock that slides down onto the track. Also, every 5-10 years there could be a falling cow.

I would like to see Red Rock Canyon, complete with opals and petroglyphs.

Wow can't believe this wasn't on here... Bakersfield... every park needs an area that no one really wants to go to but has to drive through for some inexplicable reason just to get to their actual destination!

There is a whole farm area currently in the DCA.

As for missing areas....... Death Valley.

As much as I would hate to see a waterpark.

California has some fantastic beaches....They could do something with a beach theme in DCA

    That is actually quite funny!

How about the Mt Shasta dam area, or the Mulholland reservoir?

How about State line, where you can see all the casinos but can't go there because you are in a california adventure.

Re: What Area Of California Is Missing In California Adventure In Your Opinion?

The whole Old Mexico/Spanish California aspect is missing for me (except for the winery) - - I'd love to see some great mission architecture, Zorro, mariachis, the Three Caballeros and such. Seems like a natural draw for the local population and proximity to Mexico too.

And very much I'm missing the fun 60's California fantasy of surfers, The Beach Boys, Annette and Frankie, RatFink - - the California fantasy most non-Californians dream about. Paradise Pier does not feel at all connected to that - - it feels very "East Coast".

I'd also like to see more of the San Francisco Summer of Love, California Rock, hippie thing - - another potent California myth. I always thought the Country Bear Jamboree would be well converted into a hippie pop festival ala Grateful Dead, Mamas & the Papas, etc.

    The gold rush too.

Save Hollywood, DCA is lacking in California bigger-than-life myth!

What we got: Desert aerospace, Mountains, Hollywood backlot, Muppets/Monsters, an old pier, Wine, Bugs, and Bountiful Farm.

What was missed: Gold Rush, a decent portrayal of San Francisco including hills and a wharf area, Earthquakes, the Hispanic heritage, Big Sur, Little Saigon or any Chinatown, Mineral King , Natural wildlife, San Diego, Indian Casinos (hehehe), California Sports teams, Oak trees, Arnold, Freeways (autopia should have been moved here), Angel's Flight, Father Serra and the Missions, Santa Barbara, Surfing, San Diego and Coronado, the Navy, The Marines, Catalina, The Red Car, Sam Yorty, Watts Towers, KTLA, Mullholland and the great SF Valley Water controversy, Kern County (though somewhat covered in Bountiful Farm), Sacramento (duh! the state capital!), Emerald Bay, Palm Springs, OJ (at least that is a GOOD thing to miss, along with gangstahs, tweekers and hookers), the car culture, Huell Howser and Ralph Story, and Maps to Movie Stars homes.

    That's just for starters....
