Should Disneyland Build A New Skyway?

The reason I ask is because here in Texas we have the State Fair of Texas here in Dallas, TX

    http://www.bigtex.com/

This year the fair has built their own skyway and have banners promoting it saying "the sky's the limit" campaign.

TEXAS SKYWAY: High-flyin' fun and a panoramic view await passengers gliding above Fair Park in 34 Art Deco-inspired gondolas. The new attraction travels more than 1,800 ft. from one station to the other and accommodates passengers with strollers or wheelchairs. Sponsored by Mrs Baird's.

Well, why can't/won't/hasn't Disneyland build a brand new skyway??!?!?!

I mean if the State Fair of Texas has money to open a skyway then why can't Disneyland?

Your thoughts on Disneyland building a new skyway?

Well I would hate to see a new skyway come to DL only because it grants the ability to view backstage areas and plus, the pillars and cables were large and unsightly.

I don't consider the State of Texas the model for what anyone ought to do, much less Disney.

... because the view from the monorail of ugly areas of DL is bad enough.

I'd absolutely love to see the Skyway come back, but would it be possible to create buckets that are wheelchair accessible and could carry the weight as well?

By the way, seeing backstage was never an issue on the Skyway. I wish you could see backstage! It was just a wonderful ariel view of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Sure, you'd see the roofs of the Castle and dark ride show buildings, but for the most part they were clean, and since there was nothing to see, your attention would be diverted to other areas.

I just remember the overall view of the park and the outside areas. It was similar to Knott's Skycabin although obviously not as high. If they were to attempt to bring it back they would need to reinstall the towers, cables, and ADA the stations... big$$$ plus there is DOSH and getting everything certified every x year(s). I was previously informed that part of decision for it's initial closure was the huge upkeep costs, but I am not 100%. If anyone does have the information please post it.

I don't know about Disneyland, having only been there once (hopefully changing that this summer), but I will say that I wish that the Skyway was back at WDW; it was such a nice way to view the whole park.

Not the state of Texas, but a state fair? That is quite pathetic...

i think if they did build a new skyway , it should be higher capacity , and it should go from paradise pier area in DCA to fantasy land area in Disneyland

Only things you add must be compliant. And again.. not every attraction needs to be accessible.

And have it go where? THrough the ROA area (theme/scenery clash) or through the backstage area and parking lots on the east side? Not much to enjoy along there.

Transportation tie ins between the parks would be neat.. but that one just doesn't work.

You're forgetting this is the DLR. The quickest and most efficient way of getting back and forth from DCA and DL is walking...

Yes, but it wouldn't just be a common transport.. it could be an attraction of its own right (aka monorail, aka ferries in WDW, etc etc)

Not everything is done purely for PRACTICAL reasons.. that's why its a theme park

Linking DL and DCA might generate some attendance for the struggling park.

But don't stop there. Have the Monorail and Peoplemover link the two as well.

Re: Should Disneyland Build A New Skyway?

Linking the parks would require them to either stop selling single park tickets or be nazi about who was allowed into the queue & do ticket checks. Which would make for some very not happy guests and i forsee a tidal wave at City Hall....

Just do like they did when they went away from the ticket books. One price for both parks.
