Its also worth noting that surface rust is fairly normal for unpainted tracks and rails when they haven't been used in a while.

If they indeed do Imagineer a new ride to run on that rail, all it will need is a quick steel wool job and some paint to be back to normal again. No replacement needed (that steel is way too thick to rust much in 5 years).

They probably wouldn't even need to paint the darn thing. A few vehicles running around the track will knock off any surface rust. Besides, any paint applied would rub off in a matter of days.

    That would be awesome...

"And, in addition to Space Mountain, by fall, Peoplemover 2.0 will be opening, with all new vehicles with luxury seats and a thrilling narrative and optional cheesy music."

But the track has been rusty since before the ride closed. It had rust on it by 1999 when the Rods were running.

Re: Men on people mover track today (7/12)

Well, even if it's not a new track, it's a cleaned up track. That means imagineers have been up on the track, working on it, probably inspecting it. (they obvioulsy cleaned it) That means they plan to do something with it. The submarine track never got touched or maintained while it was closed, until they decided to put a new ride on it. Doesn't anybody see what I mean? They cleaned the track! Is that not a good sign? There must be a reason, why would they work on it if they didn't plan on doing anything with it? Also, the section of the track that runs right by the monorail station used to be completly covered with years of dead leaves, that is now gone.

    Ditto.

Some people are just dead set that nothing is coming back, so they won't agree that anything could be a good sign, unless something was officially announced *crosses fingers for the 17th*

It's funny because the Finding Nemo announcement supposedly keeps getting put off. What makes us think it's REALLY definetly confirmed? "It'll be announced May 5. No, June 5. No, July 17..."

That's only because they realized that they were putting too much emphasis on May 5th and not really anything for July 17th.

Ok, the TTA can change speeds, it can go faster and slower depending on the magnets. ALSO, remember, the TTA uses magnets, not tires, and a vast majority of the magnets could fail and the TTA would still run fine. I hope they put a cover over the track too...

The current track also has the capability to slow down and speed up. They could use the rocket rod motor design and place a different shell over the top(that looks more like a peoplemover). Then they could program the speed of the car at any given point on the track, just like they did with rocket rods. The steal track is way more futuristic than tires.
