Year of a Million Monorails? (Merged)

This is from mouseplanet's weekly Disneyland update:

By late October, the two surviving monorails will be covered in plastic film hyping the "Year of a Million Dreams." The covering will be the same type used to turn Monorail Red into a giant yellow sub for the opening of the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. The new overlay will be blue with clouds on it. As one monorail driver quipped, "I am going to feel like a #&*@! bus driver!"

Why?... all I'm going to ask and same question I asked when they rolled out the Nemo Monorail. People are already at the park, this isn't exactly a Metro bus driving around town, or a plane landing at LAX. Personally I just don't see the point of advertising the park in the park.

Well it does go along Harbour Blvd.

Hopefully it looks better than the confetti vomit, which appears more like grafitti, that has plagued an end car of each of the Mark VIs.

Attraction posters used to serve a different purpose, and were effective means of advertisment during the era of ticket books. Now, with the all-inclusive passport, they're just wall decoration - but very nice wall decoration.

Decorating the Monorail was a clever and good idea for the Subs because the shape of the Monorail effectively mimmicked the design of the Subs with the visual aid of the vinyl wrap.

But I just don't see how wrapping th Monorail in clouds is effective or clever.

Loved the Suborail cover, it was a cute tie in. But the clouds, meh

As long as they don't cover the new ones in plastic then I don't really care. They Monorails aren't aging well and look cleaner and fresher when they are covered (or at least the Nemorail did).

Considering how many people don't even realize there's a promotion going on at Disneyland, it would appear that they need all the advertisement they can!

I'll have to see the clouds before I judge. The Nemorail looked cool though.

Nothing is Immune: Monorails to get "Cloud-ized"

There's some reports coming in of extra cloud cover hanging over the Disneyland monorails. Literally.

Somehow I get the impression that this will not be as popular as the yellow "Nemo sub" monorail...

I will say one thing though - it might be better than the twirly swirly silly string on the WDW monorails:

Disney is becoming so commercialized. Why do they need to advertise the year of a million dreams on the monerails, when most guests are already going to be going to Disneyland when they see it. I guess this promotion isn't working too well. go figure.
