    1st Time Visitor

    Hi everyone,
I've been perusing your messages that last few days, and you have given me some great ideas. Thanks for having these forums! Here's my question (in a roundabout way)...

I will be visiting DL Oct. 11 & 12 for my 4-year old son's very first visit. I grew up in SoCal so have been many times. This is my first time actually having to stay in a hotel (I miss being so close). In addition me and my husband, another couple going with us are celebrating anniversaries.

I am seeking advice on helping to make our visit (especially for my son) more memorable. We may look into AP's some day (I hope).

Here's what I already have planned:

-Get "First Time Visitor" button at City Hall
-See if my son can "pilot" Mark Twain
-Have dinner reservations at Blue Bayou with notice of 1st timer & anniversaries

Anything else other than trying to relax and go with the flow?

I went 2 years ago when the park was transitioning from Halloween to Christmas, and I loved Haunted Mansion (just for something different). That was the first time I had been in over 15 years (yikes!). Looking forward to this trip, I'm acting like a schoolgirl all over again. I can't wait to share this day with my son. He's going to be blow away!

Thanks again to all you Disney fanatics. You're helping me relive the magic all over again!

Make sure you already have the reservations at the Blue Bayou! SOON!

Other than that, have a blast!

Got 'em, thanks! Learned our lesson last time we were there. Sheesh, that used to be our secret place. Hard to keep a good thing to yourself.

Im sure you'll have a great trip. Don't forget a tasty dole whip! I missed out on ever having one till a few years ago - I only wish they had always been apart of my childhood!! I know he's only 4 - but perhaps he'd like the Sword in the Stone (show him the movie before you go if you can?) - I'm sure given his young age, if he took part - Merlin would let the little fella be the one to pull the sword!

And get a picture with Donald - for he is the best Disney character ever. Of course that's just my biased opinion

Amost forgot... He's a total Star Wars fan. Can he bring his own lightsabre to the Jedi Training (he has Darth Vader and Obi Wan's)? I'm not sure I want to be lugging it around, but my mom and her husband will most likely get a motorized scooter for the days.

If you are planning to see some shows, I recommend:

    1) Fantasmic! - Be there an hour prior before 9 P.M or 9:45

    2) "Remember......... Dreams Come True" Fireworks - Seek your territory before 8 P.M

    3) Walt Disney's Parade Of Dreams - Seat half an hour prior to parade step off.

    4) Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular - I'd say be there an hour to half an hour before show time.

    5) Pixar Block Party Bash - Get there about 15 minutes before parade step off.

I also may suggest getting as many character photos as possible.

I don't think they'll let you use your own lightsaber for the show, so I wouldn't worry about it.

If you're gonna be with just him while some of the adults go off on their own, I'd think about doing the Discover the Magic tour - it's aimed at kids his age and it's a treasure hunt through the park.

You could take those nice Dole Whips to the Enchanted Tiki Room.
Pirate's Lair is a neat place to stop.
So are The Golden Horseshoe (food and a show) and the Laughing Stock Company outside the Golden Horseshoe.

Best wishes and have a great time!

Fantasmic is great for any age, sure some parts could be scarey, but it'll amaze the child still.

    Re: 1st Time Visitor

Haunted Mansion Holiday is good, like you say. Less scary than the regular one for a 4 year old. I took my 4 year old niece on there about 3 weeks ago when it was still the regular one and she was scared for most of it. My bad... As long as he doesn't get too scared in the graveyard (which stays relatively the same) it should be a blast! You might want to remind him that it's all just fun or whatever you want to do, he's yours!! Hahaha!!! Anyway...
"Peter," she asked, trying to speak firmly, "what are your exact feelings to me?"
"Those of a devoted son, Wendy."
"I thought so," she said, and went and sat by herself at the extreme end of the room.
