    DCA close for a year?!?!

What do you think about DCA closing for a whole year, for a major refurb of the whole entire park?

What would you want them to fix?

How much do you think the admission prices would drop?

What do you think people who already bought there ap's for the year, what would they do being they paid for two parks and only got one would they get a refund?

I'd take the multi year rebuild over the one year closure.

I would be curious what they would have the CM's do during that time. I remember when TL was closed, had friends who tried to find hours when that happened, I can only imagine what shutting an entire park would do to labor. As far as "discounts" Disney has never really been "discount" inclined, even when they did shut down DL. If anything it would merely keep the prices the same until it opened then up goes the pass price again.

I would imagine that most of the TL cast members would get parade shifts. Plus at that time Disneyland wasn't land locked so maybe they had a few attractions to go to.

Hmmm....DCA closed for a year....I'm sure that wouldn't affect Disney's profit margin and/or tourism at all.

I doubt they'll close the gate. I think you'll see a few attractions down at a time, closing the gate will hurt the cashflow.

I'd say all parades, Fantasmic!, Special Events shifts would go to DCA CMs.

Admission and AP prices would drop drastically. Once DCA reopens, all the prices would be raised.

Good idea. I'd rather have a cheaper Disneyland pass for a year and see a grand re-opening at DCA when it is done Take two years even, to make sure it's right. Move MSEP back to DL.

But only if that didn't impact improvements in Disneyland itself, such as Tomorrowland, Sleeping Beauty and other enchancements. If it slowed those down, I'd stick with the longterm DCA plan. Disneyland is most important.

Here's a rundown of what happened. At that time a 5 year pin was fairly common and a 10 year pin wasn't overly rare. Space and Monorail were known for their seniority. When they shut down Tomorrowland those individuals had to be re-trained in another location. That in turn shifted those crews, the whole pecking order thing. Opening crews became extremely high seniority, night crews were high seniority and weekend crews were decent seniority. This forced the "new" CM's to G.C. and many people quit due to simple lack of hours. THAT WAS 1 LAND... imagine what closing DCA would do!

Prices wouldn't change. As it is right now you can buy a single park ticket anyway, or a park hopper for a bit more if you want to go to both parks in one day. They would just sell the single park ticket for the year. And they to my knowledge never refund on AP's for any reason anyway, so that wouldn't change either.

    would never happen.

Imagine the loss of revenue just for closing the park. The possible decrease in room occupancy in the GCH since one of the perks is being able to have a dirct acces to the park for guests. The loss of thousands of jobs when CM's are asked to leave for a year. Then the task of having to rehire thousands agaian after one year.

The thousands of guests that would have to be turned away when Disneyland closed because of capacity issues during the Holidays.

    would never happen

I think you can just expect a big mess with an open gate for a year or two.
