Halloween Time at the park 9/21

I see that a number of us decided to check out the first day of Haunted Mansion aka Nightmare Before Christmas and the Halloween decorations ... in spite of the threat of rain. I see threads so far that show hollywood 1939, Singing Angel7242, Aniko, almandot and localdisnyfan were there with their super duper cameras. Also Darkbeer was there and he told me about the price increases (see his thread on that here):

    http://www.micechat.com/forums/disne...-t78282p4.html

Yesterday morning while looking at localdisnyfan's photos I made a spur of the moment decision and decided I HAD to go the park and see everything and go on mansion. So after work I headed on over.

Here are some of the photos I managed to take.

I arrived around 1:30 PM to lines that were non existent at the entrance.

The floral Mickey is really well done. The colors are more brilliant then what is showing up in this photo.

Here is a close in view of the flowers and pumpkins used:

Off on the sides are these floral jack-o-lanterns

Some general shots around Main Street

Some of the characters were out in their Halloween costumes

All along Main Street they have jack-o-lanterns decorating the windows and balconies along with Fall flowers.

Some merchandise in one of the store windows

All around the partners statue are jack-o-lanterns representing the different lands. These are lit at night but I forgot to go back and see them. Hopefully someone who can take night photos can get some good shots of them sometime.

    Tarzan represents Adventureland

    Jack represents New Orleans Square

    Woody represents Frontierland

    Poo represents Critter Country

    Roger Rabbit represents Toon Town

    Tinkerbell represents Fantasyland

    and finally Buzz represents Tomorrowland

There were a couple of children, probably brother and sister, who were dressed to the hilt with makeup and everything. Everyone was taking pictures of them cause they were so darn cute

    Fall decoration in Frontierland:

It was a beautiful day. This was taken around 2:30 PM and the clouds had not started to come in ... yet.

Next up will be the mansion. Gonna take a break right now

That's cool they used pumpkins for the entrance. I never noticed that. Also, those are cool costumes on Chip and Dale. Cute.

Re: Halloween Time at the park 9/21

That was a longer break than I intended

So, where was I? Oh yes, on to the mansion...

On the way over I noticed the decoration on the French Market

When I got there I noticed the line was back in the back in the switchback area and the wait time was listed at 30 minutes. So I got a Fast Pass to give to my daughter when she joined me later and stood in line

I like the pumpkins up on the hillside

Now a few random shots taken of the outside of the house while I was waiting in line and then a couple I took later in the day

I tried to take a few shots inside. The ride did come to a stop a couple of times so I tried setting my camera to "night" and tried to hold my camera steady.

In the hallway the "moving" heads have bow ties that are lit up

This is the man eating wreath

and those little creature things (don't remember what they are called)

Those were the only photos that came out half way decent.

After leaving the mansion and getting some fries I walked over to Big Thunder Ranch and really liked this sign I saw along the way

Big Thunder Ranch is all decorated and here are some random shots of the area including the Woody Halloween Show

As the day progressed the clouds gathered and the threat of rain became more apparent.

After visiting the ranch I wandered over to Tomorrowland and saw the wait time for Space Mountain was 5 minutes so I walked right on that ride. Then I went to the hub to wait for my daughter. Our meeting time wasn't planned too well. It was between 3:30 and 4 which turned out to be the time the parade went by. So I sat in the MiceChat area and watched the parade. Daughter showed up about 4:05 PM and we went over to get another Fast Pass using her card. We had an hour to kill before the time on the Fast Pass I had gotten earlier was up and so we wandered over to Pirates. Nope, it was down. So we walked around the area and looked at things in general until 5:05. While she went on Haunted Mansion I got another Fast Pass. Now we had two Fast Passes to use later in the evening. We thought we would go on Indy before eating dinner, but it had just shut down as did Jungle Cruise. So now all three rides in a row, Jungle, Indy and Pirates were down. So we went to check in early for dinner. We got a house salad and a Monte Cristo sandwich to share. Jennifer wanted to go to DCA and see Muppets and so that is our next stop.

Coming up candy corn at DCA.

Re: Halloween Time at the park 9/21

The final chapter. After dinner we went over to DCA as Jennifer wanted to see MuppetVision 3D

The following shots are of the candy corn area at DCA. Kind of cute.

Even candy corn hanging in the palm trees!

We left DCA and went back to use our Fast Passes on Mansion. We then went in the Tiki Room and than sat up by the piano and listened to some great music while waiting for the fireworks. Remember went off on schedule with everything working and Tink flying. I love that show

Instead of joining the crowds leaving the park we went back and Pirates was up and running with a walk on line. Then we went on Indy which was back up and walked on that with very little waiting. The area before you enter your chosen chamber is still dark . Then we went on Jungle. I had a hard time understanding our guide and boy did he haul through that jungle. I don't think I have ever gone that fast through there before.

Left the park around 10:30 pm and there had not been a drop of rain. Heading west on the 5 just as I transitioned to the 91 the rain came down so hard and so fast it was like driving into a curtain. The rain was like that all the way home, which thank goodness is only Lakewood. It was really scary and I was never so glad to arrive home safe and sound in my life!

My final shot was taken when I first arrive, but wanted to save it for

    THE END

I thought they were really cool. I wanted to take a better photo but there were a lot of people around. The next thing I knew they were being escorted off stage. I'm sure they will be out and about a lot for the next month or so.

By the way, Liz, have a good time tomorrow. Wish I could be there but I have commitments on Sundays from now till the beginning of December.

Great Trip Report sis and I will be there tomorrow to see it all in person. The kids in the costume were cute and I love seeing the characters in costume. I also like that both Parks are so heavily decorated for Halloween. I love seeing Disneyland with holiday decorations all over the place.
