    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

They sold the pins at the auction. They put them all together in a frame. The winning bid was around $2500- $2800. I can look in my notes if you want the exact price.

Ya know, this shark fighting the octopus that I bought at the 50th is really large and kind of a hassle to move about since it weighs around 300 lbs.

It won't even go thru a 3'0" doorway...

Since Disneyland sold pieces of the matterhorn so successfully, do you think I could cut this sucker up and sell little chunks of it on ebay? I could reproduce the "Certificate of Verification" that I got with it...

    WHAT?!

I wonder how it was disassembled? When I saw it at the Sale, it looked like one piece... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y78...5/CIMG3547.jpg
Looks like you are correct from that picture.

In my pursuit of education I learned from the last thread that this is considered "fair market value" and that it can only be priced as high as people would be willing to pay. I am also reminded to tell you of the poor people who didn't have a chance to go to Disneyland to bid on this auction, and tell you that the individual should be allowed to sell it because it is his property so he has every right to seek a return on his investment. I mean think about it it's not like it was free or anything, not like it could be easily copied, mass produced, and resold constantly! In fact I have no clue why anyone would be upset over this.

What about the "50" pins worn by Alice and Wendy, were they part of the pin selloff?

Yes, the '50' pins were part of the framed set. I checked my notes and the winning bid was $2500. I am going to try to find the photo I took of the pin set and if I can figure it out I shall post the picture later.

Re: Guess what happened to all the Disneyland 50th Stuff?

I thought about this a little bit. While I detest the thought of cutting up the crowns whoever bought them had a business eye. Certain things like the PeopleMover would be a lot harder to flip... but the crowns could be easily butchered into smaller recognizable pieces and quickly resold!

Does anyone know if any of this went to charity?

The only mention of charity, that I recall, was when they auctioned one painting (the one featured at the Pagent of the Masters this year). The proceeds from that sale ($2500.) went to a children's charity, the name of which I cannot remember.

Oh, that's hysterical. I could squint my eyes, and pretend it's the 50th all over again!

You know, I have a mind to do just exactly that. I thought Rossmoor Pastries was a wedding cake place, and that was really all they did---weddings, big conventions, group sales etc.

From their website, it didn't seem like you could actually buy individual pastries, just as a single retail customer.

Also, the location. I remember when they were over at the Rossmoor Center (Los Alamitos?) Then again, Long Beach is closer to me.

I remember great birthday cakes...all those colored gels with intricate designs! Great tasting, too!

Re: Guess what happened to all the Disneyland 50th Stuff?

The "Snake" from the crown, on ebay was disassembled
by Disney. The person who purchased the Indy Crown
was allowed to purchase 2 of the "Snakes", which were
also part of the crown. They must have been used to
piece the 2 halves of the crown together. These 2 Snakes
were molded separately, so the purchaser did not dismantle
    the Indy Crown (yet).

As for Tink, that was part of the crown ~ that does appear
to look like that crown was disassembled. However, NONE
of the 5 halves sold were in pristine condition. Jewels were
missing from the rest of the crown, as well as any other
    added decorations.

Re: Guess what happened to all the Disneyland 50th Stuff?

I for one am grateful to the folks selling on ebay. I wasn't able to attend the auctions, yet I KNOW there was something there I wanted. The way I calculate it, had I attended the auction, I'd have spent a good coin. This way, I'll end up with maybe ONE thing, albeit 100x marked up (but to that I say kudos to the seller!), in the end, I bet I'll have spent the same amount of money. I'm getting SOMEthing!
