Re: Why aren't there more Audio Animatronics Attractions?

There have been a lot of AA "incidents" over the years. They are a liability, thus the need to limit their presence in the park.

Pirates have been known to drop their pants at times. Although nothing obscene is shown, the wires and fiber optics scare young children. Tom Morrow has also been known to make some wildly unacceptable gestures at guests. These are reported by Disney as 'glitches', but seem at times to be too much of a coincidence.

Due to these problems, construction of Rocket Rods II, featuring AA characters from Disney Channel's Play House, has been halted until they can create a AA character that performs as programmed all the time.
    You...are joking, right?

Maybe they should put in an AA Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneggar!

D'oh! you are correct, and thanks for pointing it out.

To the other poster, I included Monsters Inc because of the Roz figure at the very end. Other fantasyland (or toon town) dark rides feature animated statues with very limited movement. Roz is very limited too but it moves with the dialogue... something that was needed to be programmed in rather than running on a loop.

    LOL

I don't know. Have you seen the portraits of our past Governors in the capitol building in Sacramento? Some of those old portraits from the 1800's look really creepy.

Maybe they could stick them in the Haunted Mansion!

Yah. With the talks of Country Bears making the move to DCA and animals on GRR all on hold, all eyes go to The Little Mermaid, though it's more likely that it will be your standard dark ride material with maybe one or two fancy animatronics.

Toy Story Mania is supposed to have an AA Mr. Potato head right?

And then there's Cars Radiator Springs Racers... prolly not a whole lot of animatronics there.

How in the world do you know that their "response to the call for more characters at DCA" is just "slapping Mickey Mouse's face on the Sun Wheel rather than adding more AAs at the park"?

This is the most ridiculously uninformed blind cynicism I've ever read. You have no idea how many AAs will be added to the rides, new or old, at DCA - you don't know their exact plans, you don't know any of that. The announcement regarding the changes to DCA didn't even mention the number of animatronic figures they were going to produce nor where they would be. You just blindly, cynically hate on it, make stupid assumptions based on your completely uninformed hatred, and run with it.

Seriously. That's sad. At least have some solid info before making angry blanket statements.

There's supposed to be some in the Radiator Springs Racers according to the information Bob Weiss gave on cast TV. It should be interesting to see what they come out with.

Re: Why aren't there more Audio Animatronics Attractions?

Disney is avoiding AA's because the cost, but it is mistake. DCA needs quality AA attractions. Without AA's the park does not seem like a Disney park. Unfortunately, in the planning for DCA's revival, AA's are not really on the priority list. I would love a quality attraction like POTC or HM that used AA's to tell an immersive story. That would make DCA a true Disney park.

It's funny how even though HomeDepot sells AA reindeer and Santas and such for home displays, we love looking at robotic characters in the Disney parks.
