20th Anniversary and the Big Birthday Bash

On September 19, 1987 I married my hubby Timmy and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I knew he was the one when our first out of town trip took us to Disneyland 22 years ago. So there was really little doubt where would go for our 20th anniversary.

We left Phoenix Saturday morning at 4:30 after our usual barely can sleep the night before. We made great time and arrived at the park at about 9:45.

We saw Goofy ready for Hallowen.

    Hubby and I

First ride had to be Haunted Mansion Holiday. We had never gotten to see it decorated before and thought it was great.

I wanted to go check on the turkeys so we headed to the ranch, but the turkeys were not out due to it being muddy. The CM was then telling us that this year's Thanksgiving turkeys will be going to Florida to live. The area was decorated nicely with photo ops spots.

I think this used to be a popcorn box.

We then ran into Maynard who was working an event. We stopped to talk to him for a while and asked about his adventures down under. Then we told him how happy we were that we had gotten to ride the jungle cruise with him as our tour director many, many years ago. He then asked if he could sing a song and hubby caught it on video. As soon as I figure out how to edit the end I will post it. But here's Maynard:

They have a cute show going on for the kids so we sat down and watched it.

22 years ago at the park we took a picture on the carousel so for old time's sake had to do it again.

Saturday they were selling the final piece and when we had walked at 10:00 am. the line seemed long. At noon it was just as long.

We decided to go over to DCA to see the decorations. Stopped to make sure Hubby's brick was OK.

    Candy Corn in the rain

After checking out the decorations and the scream show we decided to go see Aladdin. We had made plans to meet up with Purple Dove sometime Saturday and since she had told me where she always sat at Aladdin I was able to ask a CM if she was present and they told her I was there so we could meet in person after spending all summer PM'ing about Big Brother. So I met a new friend in Margo, AKA PurpleDove

By now we were ready to head to the hotel and take a nap. We told Margo we would meet up later for Fantasmic.

On the way out I just had to see if the candy corn was real.

Margo called us around 7:00 and said it was filling up for Fantasmic but then she was holding spots for us. This was a rare treat as we are usually the ones who sit for hours waiting for a show. We told we would be right there. After watching Fantasmic for the first time this season. The 3 of us decided to go do Haunted Mansion, Pirates and Jungle Cruise.

It was getting late I was tired and hungry and we knew there was a big birthday bash the next day so we left the park for the day.

Coming up tomorrow the birthday bash and how we got to ride the Lily Belle.

How nice Pratt. It was so nice meeting you Sunday. A very classy lady and I wish you and your husband the best. Hey you love Disneyland, that means you can't be all that bad.

Hope to see you both again sometime.

Re: 20th Anniversary and the Big Birthday Bash

Sunday day 2 arrived and we knew we were going to the big birthday meet with the 4 horsemen and their princess.

I met TikiRoomLiz who was tempting me to break my healthy eating with a pretzel and cheese sauce.

Next up I got to meet the soon to be famous Sadako. Hubby and I loved her demo work that she shared on the boards. Maybe after she hits it big in animation she will do some books on tape so I can say I fell asleep with Sadako.

These two guys had promised me hugs when we missed them on our 18 hour trip. I was not about to let them get away again, Rixter and MickeyMaxx.

Honestly guys don't you think the ladies of Micechat are the best?

I got a chance to say Hi to Wolfy and the wolfette who just had a birthday and will soon be padlocked in a closet until she is 30 to save her parents grief with her beauty.

    MickeyMaxx, Sam and I

    Random group shots.

One of the four horse men on his birthday.

    Deogees Mom and Darkbeer

Dusty, Mary Read's hubby, Mary Read and another horse man.

We loved Mary Read's hubby's shirt so took a picture of it.

    Time for lunch

I love how the bubbles surrounded CrazyLegs

After lunch we headed over to Haunted Mansion with Deogees Mom and Darkbeer and then rode jungle cruise where there was no backside of water, only sprinkles and not of the cupcake variety.

Up later in the day Lily Belle pictures, I got to do some modeling on the Lily Belle and the Pirate Ship Restaurant Flag is photographed once more at Disneyland.

Re: 20th Anniversary and the Big Birthday Bash

Thank you QuietViolet for the nice comments.

OK so on to the final set of pictures. After a quick nap at the hotel we returned to the park and walked over to New Orleans Square. We then decided to hop on the train for a ride over to Tomorrowland. Saw this cute Incredible kid. His dad kept trying to get him to wave to us.

Because the train was so full we jokingly said that we would go sit in the Lilly Belle. She then told us we could actually ride in the Lilly Belle later, staffing permitting. We rode to the main street station and gave them our names and that we would come back at 9:00 to ride.

While waiting at the station for our ride we had fun talking with these very knowledgable CM's.

Here we are riding with some other great CM's who made sure we did not pry up the ashtrays.

Notice the coat hanging. This was Mrs. Disney's coat.

    I tried on the coat.

Eventually our trip ended. We were thrilled that we got to ride the Lilly Belle.

Before we left our CM asked if we had anything we wanted to have stamped from the Lilly Belle. The only thing I could find was a piece of paper.

After that special trip we walked down Main Street to the lit pumpkins in the hub.

Monday morning we woke up knowing it was the day we had to go return home but a few hours at the park can always change make things better.

As some of you may recall a few months ago I posted some pictures from the Captain Hook's Pirate Ship. What I did not say then was that we have one of the original pirate flags that flew on the ship. Here is a picture of the ship as a reminder, notice the flag flying on top.

My husband's, sister's, husband's, mother (my brother-in-law's mother) was the manager of the restaurant working for Chicken of the Sea for 20+ years. Here is a picture of her inside the ship.

When she passed away a few years ago she left my husband something special and here it is.

Back in Disneyland after almost 30 years, Captain Hook's Pirate Ship Flag.

We brought the flag to the big birthday meet and showed it some people. We meant to get a group shot and then in all the birthday hoopla missed our chance.

Before leaving for the day I had to make a wish.

We saw Minnie as we were leaving. I love her stockings.

    The end.
