There's one question in the poll missing and that's about adding a loop...

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

I remember the last time I went to Disneyland, Jungle Cruises was the first attraction I rode on. Our skipper was trying to kick us off and get us to go to Indy instead

I love how the attraction is now, I usually try to ride it about five times every time I go to the park.

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

I don't think animated characters are the answer. Animated captains who are characters and can veer away from the script at times are the answer!

They should do a top 50 jungle cruise jokes as selected by the campatins and use those as the script.

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

When we were little kids we used to ride the jungle cruise to see the cool animals......as we got older we thought it was hilarious to ride it and listen to the sarcasm of the skippers. I think it would be refreshing to see some new additions from disney movies such as Jungle Book and Tarzan in a few places. Not so much an overlay but rather appropriate placement along the ride. We loved it when the new areas were added to the ride.........it never took away from the classic parts. Refreshing the script on a yearly basis would be great as well. The more "tongue in cheek" the better as far as we're concerned!!! Thanks for opening this can of worms..........it's always interesting to see folks debate with kindness and consideration!!!

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

I always thought it was strange that Tarzan used the Gorilla camp scene!

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

The Jungle Book is my all-time favorite Disney film, and I would definitely NOT want The Jungle Cruise to reflect those characters. For starters, it would not mesh with the entire structure of the ride itself. Yeah, I'm sure Trader Sam would mesh really with four vultures who clearly resemble The Beatles, and Baloo and Mowgli would fit really well with a pool of real-life hippos.

Furthermore, I would much rather see a quality dark ride designed solely for The Jungle Book, and seeing how Disneyland has no room, I can pretty much shoot this down. Now excuse me while I count down the days for that special edition Jungle Book DVD to come out!

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

What would work, and drastically improve the overall theme of the area, is to rip out Aladdin and put in a Jungle Book inspired show! Personally I would rather have an Adventurer's Club but anything is better then a bad show that's missing a cheap lamp.

Probably behind that is "make it permanent", "theme it to movie", and "tear it out", but I'm not sure of their places because I don't have a telescope so I can't be sure!

If you wish to go with random population sampling then look at the 50th O.C. Register survey. Of those polled (somewhere in the thousands not sure of exact number) Jungle Skipper was picked as the #2 dream job to have. We lost to WDI and tied with VIP tour guide. These are people who enjoy Jungle, ride Jungle, and in this case would enjoy working Jungle. The J.C. has a diehard following, it may not always be full but it's rarely completely empty (as in empty boats and line... other attractions have this).
Of course this poll is non scientific.

But if you total it up, there are more people who said "upgrade animatronics, do a temporary overlay, do a permanent overlay, or rip out the jungle cruise" than those who "like it just fine."

So the majority of people think it needs SOMETHING. Wake me up when we get back to the boarding area.

Those who either wish to keep it or wish to freshin it up total 83%. I would have been content to keep that quiet but you were so gracious to add everything up so I felt we should compare to be fair.

64 people above think that there needs to be big changes in some form.

There's 47 who like it just fine.

To me that means it's gotten stale - the skippers, the animatronics, the whole thing. When that happens, I think: How could we freshen this up? I never thought I was putting skippers out of work or ruining happy memories (of when the ridw was fresh and exciting).

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

Ok the current total is 111 due in part to the ability to do multiple votes. Here are the correct totals percentage wise
Temporary for 40th 17/111 or 15.3%
Permanent JB cruise 7/111 or 6.3%
Replace and Update but keep story same 36/111 or 32.4%
Theme it to JC Movie 2/111 or 1.8%
No Change 47/111 or 42.3%
Walkthrough 2/111 or 1.8%

I have bolded the two that specifically state to keep the story the same. Their total is 74.7% meaning that what is left (changes) total 25.2%, which adds to a total of 99.9% due to rounding so I will give you the .1% bonus. 74.7%>25.3% simple math.

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

Both sides lay claim to the 32.4% 'Replace and Update' option...interesting. I suppose it is all determined by one's definition of 'update'.

Re: Jungle Book Cruise?

The trick is that the Update includes the line "but keep the original storyline the same" and the last time I checked Jungle Book was not included in the storyline of Jungle Cruise
