Disneyland 56 Jungle Cruise Poster up for sale.

I found this while looking for a few things. IF I had the money this is one of the few items I would spend it on. I have a replica though... and thinking twice I would rather have the replica and use the money for something else.

Annoyingly I found the new Survival Guide on there as well, still a little shocked that it's fetching that price... but that is the nature of the beast. And I found Ned's cards... amazing what you can find on there related to the park.

Just think how much easier it would've been to steal back in 1956 and sell it now

Holy Moly, it's at $1625.00, reserve not met and to boot they are charging $49.95 for shipping for standard priority mail. I agree with you techskip, I'll take a replica and use the spare change for additional APs so I can ride the actual attraction.

Whew, for a poster it's a tad much, but given the rarity of the specific qualities of that individual poster, it kind of makes sense. The artwork itself is a little more inexpensively attainable, though.

Let's take a look at it before it's sold off.

Going by that reference to True Life Adventures, it seems clear that the JC was inspired by the documentary film series.

The same vendor has this poster for the exact same price -

I just noticed that the poster calls it the Jungle River. Was that the official name when opened and if so when did it become the Jungle Cruise?

I believe it opened as the Jungle Rivers of the World, in fact I believe the sign at the fort entrance still has that. I'm not sure of the exact change dates.

I also found a costume for sell... amazing what some will try to sell.

Winning bid ended up being over $5K... I would gladly have bought a replica and then kept the extra cash and used it for something else.

Dang - I'm amazed. I own ten different original attraction posters and none of my titles would fetch 5 grand. It's so interesting how some titles garner SO much more than others, even when they're of the same vintage.

I have one (matterhorn)and I know it wouldnt pull that kind of money maybe 10 percent...maybe on a good day. Is that a serigraph on canvas or just a print on poster paper, i know some of the earlier ones were actually screen printed if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Disneyland 56 Jungle Cruise Poster up for sale.

I took the liberty of snagging the description in case the link breaks.

    Huge 36" x 54" Guaranteed Original Silk-Screened Disneyland Billboard Attraction/Ride Poster:

    "JUNGLE RIVER"

"For the True Life Adventure, Ride the Jungle River"

    "Congo Queen"

    "ADVENTURELAND"

"Copyright 1956, Walt Disney Productions" in the lower right corner

Beautiful vivid coloring throughout on this 51 year old very rare Disneyland collectible. Poster has been beautifully preserved on a thick cloth backing which was completed by a professional map mounter.

Excellent to Near Mint Overall Condition with a small section missing of the upper and lower left corners and some assorted light edge wear. Poster has retained almost all of it's original bright vivid coloring. Please see the numerous close-up photo's below.

This is a Super Rare Guaranteed Original Billboard Poster from the Marilyn Blaisdell collection who purchased a collectioin of these posters from George Whitney (Owner of Whitney's Playland-At-The-Beach Amusement Park in San Francisco) who had provided professional assistance to Disneyland during it's opening in 1955.

Re: Disneyland 56 Jungle Cruise Poster up for sale.

I purchased this exact original silk-screened Jungle River attraction poster back when the Disney Gallery first opened, along with many others back when they routinely sold such items in the early days of the Gallery. And they seemed to have many of each back then. I don't think I paid more than $300 for any one of them. If I recall...that highest price for an original attraction poster was for the Mousekeeter 3D Jamboree attraction poster.

I'm a little surprised they have advanced in price that much.
