Re: New Little Mermaid DCA rumour

Yeah, there's no way the ride could fit into that restaurant building. However, I'm sure there could have been a way to build the ride adjacent to it, like on the east side of the walkway that curves down towards Screamin.

I've always wondered why they don't put it in the vacant Chinese food place. It looks like they have room to expand that building and part of the dining area - under the stored dorys - could be used as queue space.

But I have faith Imagineering has it all figured out.

Re: New Little Mermaid DCA rumour

why not build it in a new/expanded building right across from the grotto (replacing catch a flave and most of that white wooden fence that leads to screamin'), stretching into the timon lot a bit. the ride wouldnt have such space limitations as it might have otherwise

plus, how cool would a giant, stylized sand king triton castle look there, serving as both a weenie and as the entrance to the ride building? itd be a way to kinda-sorta tie the ride into the PP theming.....

I don't think that the size of the building is an issue here. They could always expand the building/ dock.

Ariel's Grotto will be a tough loss, but that would be a better location for the Little Mermaid Ride than the Golden Dreams building.

Whether or not this is true (I, for one, consider Lutz far more reliable than Screamscape), this potential is interesting. While I'm sure it would make many unhappy to lose the Cove bar, placing the Little Mermaid ride in that building would diffuse much of the controversy regarding theming issues, as the Little Mermaid would inevitably fit in with Paradise Pier better than San Francisco.

But would the Ariel Grotto building even have enough room for a full-size dark ride and queue? Furthermore, if they did do this, what would they replace Golden Dreams with?
Lance had a bad source on that one.

LM is going where Al said it is.

    This rumor is totally unbelievable.

It can't. It won't. Dont' worry about it. It must be a really distant rumour since they spelled it with a U.

I kind of figured as much. I really enjoy Screamscape, but sometimes they do get some off-information. Such is the nature of any site that prints rumours (which isn't necessarily all that bad a thing).

Taking Al's version as more likely, I woder if the Imagineers might be planning to make the ride facade and show building kind of a transition area--half San Francisco (the Golden Dreams dome), and half Paradise Pier. Maybe it could work without being too thematicaly inconsistent, and the area of Paradise Pier closest to Golden Dreams is arguably its worst part.

Yeah sorry. I've always liked the British spelling better.
