    Summary
Fifty years ago today Disneyland Park opened its gates for the first time and launched a brand new form of family entertainment. Thousands of guests waited overnight to be part of The Happiest Place on Earth's 50th anniversary celebration. They were treated to a day-long series of special events highlighted by a rededication ceremony in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle that featured Arnold Schwarzenegger (Governor of California), Diane Disney Miller (Walt Disney's eldest daughter), Michael Eisner (chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company), Robert Iger (CEO-elect and president of The Walt Disney Company) and Art Linkletter (host of the 1955 Disneyland Opening Day TV Special).

As guests entered the park, they received complimentary, commemorative gold Mickey Mouse Ears, a souvenir program and a voucher for free birthday cake (it is estimated that an astounding 100,000 cupcakes will be served by the time the park closes at midnight). Six 15-feet tall jumbo-trons were positioned throughout Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure and featured images of Disneyland through the years, along with live coverage of today's events throughout the park. The 50th Anniversary Celebration -- dubbed The Happiest Homecoming on Earth -- continues through October 2006 at Disneyland.

Well, I am so glad that Diane Disney Miller will be at Disneyland. This shows that she has put all past differences aside. Unlike Roy, at least she has her priorities in order.
