Tower of Terror - Is the Library and elevator?

So I'm at the parks this weekend with some friends and today while in the Tower of Terror's Library section my friend claimed that the Library is an elevator in the style of the Haunted Mansion. My friends say the room moves/shakes like an elevator, but I hardly feel anything except the bass from the lightning and thunder.

Does anybody know anything about this? Is the library an elevator? If it is why is it one? It isn't necessary like Haunted Mansion ...you aren't travelling under a berm of any kind.

    What do you guys think/know?

It's not an elevator, there is no need for it to be anyways.

They were just pulling your leg. They may have thought it was an elevator since you enter through the lobby and exit into the basement, and it vibrates a little due to the lightning, but the room goes no where

I think it is an elevator, since you board in the steam room and exit on the ground floor. the steam room is on the 2nd and 3rd levels ot TOT.

boarding the actual ride vehicle elevator will explain why you board it in the steam room (2nd and 3rd levels) and exit on the ground floor.....

The library is just a room.

Except for when you travel through the shaft, you never reach a third floor. There is no elevator; all you do is wait there, then enter into the boiler room.

Next time you visit the libraries, take a look at both entryways. The front is two double swinging doors, and the back is a sliding secret door. No elevator has swinging doors, and all modern elevators have double-thick doors to hide the door mechanism and provide cover on both sides.

And furthermore: why build another set of elevators? It would be a waste of money.

LOL, this is exactly what I was thinking. There's really no need for it to be an elevator since it doesn't really do anything special.

Because it sets the theme for the ride and it wouldn't make sense for you to go from the lobby to the basement, it doesn't really make sense how it is anyways but it makes more sense than that.

I would be willing to put $$$$ on the fact that the library is an elevator

So you are willing to lose a bet? Wow.

Just being "almost positive" and "willing to put $$$$ on it" doesn't change the facts.

explain how you board through the steam room and exit the ground floor. If you boarded on the ground floor, you would exit @ the same location. it's not brain surgey. there's a reason they ask you to stand on the carpeted area during the intro, b/c of you stand on the hardwood, you can feel the eleveator portion on your feet. Trust me on this I know for a fact it is an elevator.

idontneedaname - You are going to lose. It is not an elevator. Its a room. You go in one door and out the other. Think about it, when you exit the actual ride elevator cars from the bottom loading area you walk directly in to the souvenier shop without have to use stairs. Its all one the same floor buddy.
