Universal Creative VP taking over Walt Disney Imagineering

how can you hate on someone for building movie tie-ins in Universal? Hello - that's what they do.. that's what IP they have.

I mean.. the name of the park is STUDIOS and that's what the company does. That would be like crying disney uses too many... uh... disney characters in fantasyland.

The park's basis is the studios.. of course stuff will be about the movies.

Since hearing about this, I can't help but say that this is a really coolthing. First of all, if he takes over imagineering, he would want to invest in technology, maybe even help Disney come up with a one-of-a-kind thrill ride or even an IOA-type park for Disney. I simply can't wait to see what he has in store for WDI.

IOA has very little movie tie-ins? What do you call Jurassic Park? Seuss Landing? The proposed Harry Potter's Wizarding World? Come on, it's Universal!! Movie tie-ins are in abundance.

Seusslanding is based on the books not the movie and Harry wasn't part of the original park so apart from JP there are no other MOVIE based attractions in IOA.

Jurassic Park is actually half movie/half book. I noticed several charecters and references directly to the novels when I went there.

He’s not taking over WDI, just their R&D department. As Vaughn had that position before he took over WDI, you’d expect any significant ride systems to be pushed by him.

I guess someone needs to explain this to you, so I will. Jurassic Park and Harry Potter have something in common .... they were both BOOKS before they were films. Therefore they fit into IOA's main theme of literature. And Seuss Landing? What about it? Dr. Seuss made BOOKS, not movies. Universal's Seuss films came after IOA's creation.

He has a point. The Jurassic Park rafting sequence was in the first Jurassic Park book and didn't appear in the movie.

Spider-Man is based on the comic book version. It doesn't look like the movie version.

Harry Potter as a book is just as big as the movies, if not bigger. Had they not been adapted into films, I could still see them creating a whole land based off the books.
