Re: Where is the DCA concept Art? (Merged)

I was just annonymously sent a bunch of concept art that was screen-capped from Cast TV.

The images are small, but theres art for stuff that Al Lutz mentioned in the past, but that Disney hasn't even hinted at in the media blitz.

    Take a gander....

WALT DISNEY PLAZA / NEW ENTRANCE
    Overview:

    Entrance and turnstiles:

    The new hub:

    Entry plaza shops:

Ideas for a new Partners statue:

Inside the new Walt Disney Story:

    The new Red Car Trollys:

The route of the Red Car Trollys (Route goes from in front of current DCA entry locker/restroom area to the front of Tower of Terror) :

    CARS LAND
    Overview:

    Mater's Towing (ride):

Luigi's Tires (ride, looks very similar to old Tomorrowland Flying Saucers):

    Radiator Springs Racers:

    PARADISE PIER

Toy Story Mania! / Midway Mania (look close! the marquee says "Toy Story Midway Mania" ) :

    Re-themed Games of the Boardwalk:

    Goofy's Sky Skool / Mullholland Madness re-theme:

Mickey Wheel / Sun Wheel re-theme:

    The Little Mermaid attraction:
    Outside:

    Overview:

    Show scene:

Disney's World of Color viewing area:

    Beer Garden:

Inside the new DCA Preview Center:

    ---

Thanks so much to the insider who sent this to me! You're amazing!

Re: Where is the DCA concept Art? (Merged)

And thanks for posting them, Gracey!

I'm just stoked that the art has a waterfall in the cars ride. Out of everything talked about that ride, all I want is for there to be a waterfall. That would really make the ride that much better for me.

I'm digging the new entrance the most because it will make Hollywood area better as well. I'm not sure about the turnstyles though. I do like them but want something more unique to DCA, as many of you have mentioned.

Goofy's Sky School? But condor flats is now defunct right? Er... ok.

Mater's Tow Ride? sigh. I don't know if that's an improvement.

Overall... I dig it! Can't wait.

So what do you think, Mr. Immersion?

I'm most excited about the flying saucers. The more I look at this stuff, the more I'm digging the Frankenstein DCA. The new tagline should be, "It doesn't have to make sense, it's DCA!"

what exactly is Mater's Tow ride? Is it like one of those c-ticket trackless rides they have in Paris and Tokyo? Could be a fun addition like a dumbo style ride.

The Luigi flying saucer tire ride looks like crazy fun. I just hope theres an animatronic Luigi spitting out italian sterotypes every 2 minutes to add to the surreal absurdity.

To be quite honest, most every piece of art I see wins me over more and more.

They seem to be doing a wonderful job of weaving in the Little Mermaid into the Palace of Fine Arts rotunda....

And while I still think Cars Land is out of place and oersized, the level of detail and the immersion looks astounding. I have issues that I won't be taken to a different time and place within California, but the ride will certainly transport us somewhere else - and I guess I can be happy about that, because nothing else in DCA successfully does that right now.

And the new entry plaza = absolutely beautiful and brilliant in every way. As of now, the new Walt Disney Plaza is undoubtedly the best part of this $1 billion dollar overhaul for me

It's hard to tell. If it's trackless it's probably more like Aquatopia but dry.

Holy Crap Al Lutz is right again...Check out that Toy Story Mania sign on the front...it has the small Toy Story logo at the top and then underneath in big letters it reads....

    MIDWAY MANIA!

I prefered the Midway Mania name...the toy story charecters are merely our hosts the ride is about classic pier midway games its not a cartoon dark ride.

I hope that the name will be Midway Mania. It just makes so much more sense if its named that at DCA.

Looking at the art for Radiator Springs Racer and the whole project in general reminds me of something John Lasseter said on his very first day at Imagineering...

"We Won't Be Designing Mediocre Attractions Anymore!"

I think Lasseter and Weiss are going to win and keep the Midway Mania name for California. As you said it makes sense and in the future they could even switch out the toy story charecters and give it a new overlay but the ride will still primarily be about carnival games.

Keep in mind that the Radiator Springs Racers or whatever it's called appears to have a indoor/show building portion. I wonder what kind of effects/content they are going to have in there. I hope it's not just empty.
