Funny, Kevin Yee just said the same thing in his latest column:

    http://www.miceage.com/kevinyee/ky110807d.htm

I found myself watching Japanese visitors rush into the park early in the morning, and promptly mob the costumed characters in Town Square rather than racing to the rides (though some folks did that, too). This was odd, and made me realize the Japanese are interested in characters, not necessarily ride experiences. That's obvious also in the merchandise for sale, which was way too focused on characters and almost not at all on the rides or even the brand name of TDL or TDS.

Seeing the character devotion, I thought to myself that they don't deserve TDS. This park belongs next to Disneyland, where it would be properly appreciated. Here, it's less crowded than TDL. I suppose that makes for a nicer experience for folks like us, though!

I love characters as much as the Japanese, well anyway not to stray from the topic I had an idea about a bay area themed attraction, the Winchester Mansion, just theme it for Disney, its located in the bay area.

No Winchester Mystery House already IS an attraction, go to the real thing.

I'd like to see a NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS attraction in a recreation of this building, the Carson Mansion in EUREKA:

Once a year, DCA's San Fran area looks just like San Fran, but just lose all those red shirts.

Not to mention that all these things are scattered around randomly (sorta).

After/durring all the udates there will be no golden gate bridge, the palace will be right by a clashing LM facade (or so I hear), and though the victorian buildings will be used for something (showroom) it still isn't SF.

I hope that in future phases of the parks refurbishment there will be a new area dovoted to SF. It could even be themed to the 1920s.

    Thoughts?

.P.S. The Pacific Wharf area is actually a cool area with good food!
Pacific Wharf is based off of Monterey actually

It could easily be rethemed to be San Francisco, just as San Francisco could easily become the little town of Eureka.

Huh? I'm saying they could have expanded the Wharf to be a Fisherman's Wharfesque area connected to a San Francisco themed land, as an alternative to the Radiator Springs-Carsland that's going in there now.

And the 3 building area that represents San Francisco now could become Eureka, a little tiny town with Victorian architecture way up the coast from San Francisco.

What about the plot between CARSLAND and Tower of Terror? There's one last area to develop there.

I was joking, I was referring to the tv show EUREKA on Sci-Fi, I knew you meant the town though

Re: Lack of San Francisco at DCA

Not to be technical but with the Toy Story Mania addition, the Pixar Play Parade, Monster's Inc. Playhouse Disney, Muppets, Crush, Bugsland, and now possibly a Little Mermaid ride and Carsland... I think there is a little lack of DCA in DCA!

So much for the C... wonder what other letter they can replace it with.
