"If theme parks, with their pasteboard main streets, reek of a bland, safe, homogenized, whitebread America, the Renaissance Faire is at the other end of the social spectrum, a whiff of the occult, a flash of danger and a hint of the erotic. Here, they let you throw axes. Here are more beer and bosoms than you'll find in all of Disney World." - Chicago journalist Neil Steinberg
I titled this thread "then and now", and looking back from my photographs from last year, I see some things that were sorely missed this year. To wit:
A Block Party Bash float (last year they had this AND the High School Musical Pep Rally Float out):
A larger contingent of Pirates:
Me seeing a stormtrooper walking around (I know from other trip reports that they were there, I just didn't see him):
Darth Vader and the Jedi Master on stage in Tomorrowland:
The cheering groups and crowds everywhere (seemed like much less this year):
Seeing Buzz in his proper (?) home in Tomorrowland:
Seeing the surf band (what happened to this band?):
Seeing the Green Army Men everywhere (I thought I heard them when I was in the parking garage, but I didn't see them this year):
Seeing the Columbia out and staffed with Pirates:
The Ursula float was not out this year, but instead the Alice in Wonderland float was, which was preferable:
The Jack Skellington and Sally Stitches characters were out last year (there are two characters you don't see every day!):
Woody and Jessie were in their proper place (I'm sure that's debatable!?!) in Frontierland last year:
And last year I saw Goofy in his exercise outfit, instead of Western Wear:
A unique look at Monsters, Inc., coming up next!
I post the above just because it seems as though Disney cut back a little this year, which is too bad. Afterwards, the winds were so bad and the dust on my camera so bad that I wanted to go home, but my son wanted to ride Monsters.... again... and again... so here's some shots from the SEVEN TIMES we rode Monsters, Inc.!
In no particular order:

So after that experience, I decided to make my way out of the park. I saw PUSH:
And made my way through the Grand Californian ( I love the lamps and lighting here):
And then, as I've posted elsewhere, I ran into Micechatters PRINCESS BUTTERCUP and SCUBABE! Hey, I know you guys!
Anyway, this LONG report is finally over. Thanks for looking, and thank you for the comments. I really enjoyed doing the CHOC walk this year, and can't wait to support this great cause again and again!
THE END

Very Excellent
I'm back MiceChat
Originally he showed up without the helmet on, but it appeared he asked the CM that was manning our area if he could put it on, or he just decided to try. We had asked the CM about it and he waived it off as no big deal since it was an early morning event.
Thanks Froggy for the pictures from last year, it looked like a lot of fun. I have to admit I was a bit surprised to see Buzz in DCA instead of TL. Although I guess they replaced him in TL with Ed!
A little piece of heaven

"I don't care about critics. Critics take themselves too seriously. They think the only way to be noticed and to be the smart guy is to pick and find fault with things. It's the public I'm making pictures for." - Walt Disney
