Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

its odd how I have absolutely no interest in any of the new attractions............or could it be that none of them are at all interesting??

The only attraction I'm truly interested in is the Walt Disney Story slated for the new entry plaza.

Aside from that, I think Cars Land and the Little Mermaid attractions are missed opportunities and a cheap way to fix the park, rather than actually coming up with theme-appropriate attractions and themes.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

yoyoflamingo has shared the link to the official Disneyland.com Toy Story Mania! promo site the thread, Toy Story Mania website up!.

You can view the official Toy Story Mania! website here:
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disn.../page?id=Flash

It looks like the official name for the attraction at the Disneyland Resort really is "Toy Story Mania!" (as of now). Seeing as the link above is part of the Disneyland web site, and not the larger generic "Disney Parks" site or even the Walt Disney World Resort site, I wouldn't count on ever seeing the name "Toy Story Midway Mania" ever used officially. But I guess we won't know 100% until signage goes up on the attraction building.

The official site features a photo gallery (click on the Viewmaster). It includes two pieces of concept art and two photos of Imagineers installing the first ride vehicles and taking an early spin on the ride. Here are the images for your convenience. Images copyright Disney, of course.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

Hello everyone!

My name is Jeffrey and I have been lurking around these message boards for quite a while now and I finally got around to creating an account. Just a quick introduction... I am 20 years old and I am currently a second year student at Eberhardt-Karl-Universiät in Tübingen, Germany. My main areas of study are Psychology and English. Thankfully, I've had the luxury of visiting all of the Disney theme parks in the world (with the exception of the new Hong Kong Disneyland) and I am HUGE Disney fan!

In response to the new renovation at DCA...

All I can say is, "WOW!" Everything looks amazing. The last time I visited DCA, (I think it was in the year 2003?) I felt it was a fun park but definitely lacked the magic that Disneyland has. Fortunately, this new billion dollar budget is going to sky rocket DCA's reputation. I just have a few questions though...

The last I heard, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" closed due to the decline in popularity so it is now just an empty warehouse. Has anything been announced to replace that building?

The Little Mermaid attraction is such a great idea! I am glad that Disney is actually going back to old-school 2D classics instead of the boom of Pixar related rides. I just wish that the attractions surrounding the new E-Ticket would be similar to the Little Mermaid area at TDS... which is executed exceptionally well.

Also... where exactly is the Beer Garden going to go? I think putting in a Bier Garten is a FANTASTIC idea. The food, the beer and the atmosphere at most beer gardens are always so relaxed. I think guests who have never been to Germany will really like this as they are quite popular here in Germany (especially during the summer seasons). From the looks of the artwork, it will definitely be a very beautiful Beer Garden! The installation of a BG will certainly add culture to DCA; something that it desperately lacks.

Okay, well just wanted to introduce myself and comment on the wonderful new additions to DCA! :-)

Well I remember when the Little Mermaid DVD came out how everyone was wishing DCA had a ride like that. Now we are getting it, I think it is exciting and very fitting! I also cant wait to see how the Cars land and attraction will turn out. Not my idea of a new land but hey it sounds very interesting.

Welcome to MiceChat, Jeffrey

"Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Play it!" did close due to declining attendance. The building, now called Stage 17, is currently available for private parties and events.

As for the future of Stage 17, it is currently planned to be a temporary main entry for DCA while current entryway (Gateway/Sunshine Plaza) is re-themed and recreated as Walt Disney Plaza.

The Beer Garden is slated to take the place of Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Burger Invasion - situated between the MaliBOOMer and Mulholland Madness

It's been kinda quiet. The latest news is just progress on the Toy Story Mania! project. Photos can be seen in my 12/21 Dateline Disneyland column.

Any idea about how they are retheming the Orange Stinger? It's one of my kids' favorites.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

They are going to place more "orange peel" around the outside,
release live swarms of bees inside, so it really will be an "Orange Stinger".
Honey produced by the bees will be drained on top of the "Orange" and
most of the Pooh ride elements in DL will be moved inside the "Orange",
that way will it will reduce the number of crappy rides by one.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

This isn't part of the big $1.1B budget, but still part of DCA's make-over. I was at the park last Saturday, and snapped these pics of TSMM over the construction wall, from ground level. (I'm tall, what can I say?)

Please pardon the large size of the photos. I left them large, so as to see the details better.

Brilliant shots, dland_lover! Thank you very much! Toy Story Mania! is coming along very nicely! I can't wait for those walls to come down.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

I know, me too!! It is such a beautiful building, and only keeps getting better! If this is a preview of things to come, then we are going to have one heck of a beauty on our hands! Which, of course, only gets me more excited.

And, you're welcome.
