Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar (Resort Preview Center)

Details: Originally planned for the San Francisco Street buildings, the Blue Sky Cellar is replacing the Seasons of the Vine Theater. Exhibits planned to rotate every 6-8 months.
Project Status: In progress.
Open Date: CM/AP Previews early October. Open to public October 20.

So if I buy an AP I might still be able to see it I'll be heading home on October 19th?

I thought I saw in this thread where someone already mentioned this, but I can't find it now.. Apologies if I am repeating this.. But it looks like the Sun Wheel retheme has been delayed a bit. On the calendar at Disneyland.com it is not listed as closed until Monday, September 29.

Burger Invasion refurbishment and removal of McDonald's menu/theming.

Project Status: To begin September 2
Open Date: May 2009

Removal of Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Burger Invasion, addition of Beer Garden.

Project Status: To begin Fall 2009
Open Date: By 2010 opening of World of Color

Can anyone explain why they are spending 8 months to refurbish Burger Invasion just to take it out 4-5 months after that? Is that just so it can be open during the summer?

McDonalds is taking all of their equipment out, and Disney needs to go in, clean up and install ALL of the neccesary equipment in the kitchen. This way, once it's done, they won't have to do that, in addition to the rest of the changes, for the Beer Garden re-do.

So the kitchen for Burger Invasion will be kept as part of the Beer Garden? They're not starting from scratch?

I wish I could see a map view of the Beer Garden to get a feel for how it fits the existing space.

I think it is so they can have a quick service counter in that area, people will pay to have quick food rather then sit down at Pizza Oom Mow Mow. I think its pricey anyways!

Also does anyone have any information on the Ariels Grotto/ Beer Garden or concept art? Probably too early for any of that stuff I guess. I cant wait for the Hollywood Blvd. to get the Red Trolleys just imagain how cool that will look!

Also are they going to still call DCA's sections "district's" still like how Disneyland has "land's"?

As Dland Lover has said, McDonald's owns all the kitchen equipment so once they're gone, the equipment goes with. As for why they're not just rebuilding the area all together to prepare for the beer garden, it might be timing. But it doesn't make much sense if the tacky burger is just gonna go away anyway.

I was aware that they are taking McDonald's out, but it doesn't make sense to completely refurb Burger Invasion (8 months worth) only to tear it out 4 months after it opens to make way for the Beer Garden UNLESS the Burger Invasion kitchen is going to be used in the Beer Garden. That would make a lot more sense. I was just under the impression that that whole area was going to be leveled (SS Rustworthy, Burger Invasion and Pizza Oom Mow Mow) to make way for the Beer Garden. But reusing some of the existing facilities would make sense.

This is a great thread! Thanks for starting it!

I guess there are a few things I'm not so keen on, one being the beer garden, and the other being that they are taking the Mickey head off Screamin' and putting it on the sun wheel. Why are they putting in a beer garden? The winery made sense since that is what California is known for, but are they known for beer? I guess I don't really see the point in having that. Just my opinion.
And I thought the point of the mickey head on Screamin was to give an ordinary roller coaster a Disney touch. If they take that away, what gives it the Disney touch? I know it plays music, but it was neat seeing the mickey head and knowing that was the loop. *ok, not the actual loop, but you know what I mean*

I am excited to see the rest of the changes. Not sure if Mickey's Philarmagic would fit in DCA, but I think it is something that should come to the Disneyland resort. TSMM seems to be bringing more people to DCA, and there is always a line for it. So who knows. I guess only time will tell.
