Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

Yeah, Jim Hill is not the greatest news source.

As for the preview center, it has been ready and waiting to go for a while now according to Al who has a pretty great description of exactly what is inside in today's update.

WDI did a great job getting a budget they can work with and keeping many of the projects they wanted while getting the suits excited enough to allow for the possibility of additional phases of development.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

Very good one

The Little Mermaid ride just keeps sounding better and better with each passing update.

The fact that they are treating her hair almost like a separate entity is awesome. And having enough animatronics that it is being compared to iasw is pretty amazing as well.

Wonder how long WDI has been working on making animatronic hair look like it's really underwater.

Hey, leave Jim alone. He's just like Al... Sometimes gets it right, sometimes wrong. Welcome to life. LoL!

Can't quite imagine AudioAnimatronic hair, but hoping for the best.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

Alright, let's stay on the course of tracking DCA rather than bashing other sites or those behind them.

I don't like the idea of a drained lagoon for the holiday season, couldn't they just wait. Honestly.

So you want them to push off the DCA work even more? Great.

Short answer: No. From here on out DCA will be hit hard with projects. It is now to be expected that guests will be running into walls all over the place. And due to the size of the projects they can't be as sensitive to peak seasons, like smaller refurbishments. There is no rush to do these projects, as some here may try to convey, however these projects are a sensitive process due to their size where one offset could cost the company a large amount and bring the project over budget.

It's getting close to crunch time. With contractors at the ready and workers ready to punch in their time cards you can't just put the whole process on hold just to make the place look pretty for the holidays. In this case the projects trump the cleanliness on the priority list, where usually it's the other way around. And in order to begin another segment in this first phase without having to hire more contractors, or trying to avoid hiring multiple contractors simultaneously, they need to get this one started and completed in a timely manner.

I can't either, but it it takes its own computer control system it's probably going to be quite something else. I like that the actual figures are going to be some of the most complex they've ever done. Not to mention that it is being compared to iasw in number of AAs. AAs were kind of falling by the wayside in recent years. This ride will bring them back in a significant number, as will RSR. AA figures is one of the things that really sets Disney apart from other parks (even though they have them, they aren't as good, or as many).
