Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

The Sunwheel goes down for its retheming sooner than stated. So get your sunwheel ride fix because it goes down next monday and will re-open as Mickey Funwheel with a victorian theming a few months later

I love, love, love audio-animatronics! Recreating Ariel's underwater hair will be awesome! I can't wait to see Ursula! All of those tentacles are going to rock!
... Can you tell I'm excited?

I did both swinging and stationary gondolas last month in a 1 week span. I actually like that attraction for providing nice views of the park.

Dreading the day. Honestly the sun looks ten times better then that Mickey. It just doesn't look right. Will a dumb Mickey really make people want to ride it more??

I want that sun when it comes down!

Yes. I do! I don't care about the DCA work at all. I love the park just the way it is so don't expect any happiness from me.

And due to the size of the projects they can't be as sensitive to peak seasons, like smaller refurbishments. There is no rush to do these projects, as some here may try to convey, however these projects are a sensitive process due to their size where one offset could cost the company a large amount and bring the project over budget.

It's getting close to crunch time. With contractors at the ready and workers ready to punch in their time cards you can't just put the whole process on hold just to make the place look pretty for the holidays. In this case the projects trump the cleanliness on the priority list, where usually it's the other way around. And in order to begin another segment in this first phase without having to hire more contractors, or trying to avoid hiring multiple contractors simultaneously, they need to get this one started and completed in a timely manner.
Well, I don't see why they can't start in January and have a nice 6 months instead of a hard 2 months which less work will be done because of the crowds.

The number of guests will not affect the time line of the construction.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

I understand the preview center is going to be open for APers for a few days before it opens to the general public on October 20. I think I'm going up on October 18.

How does this work? I've never been to an AP preview before. Is it for all APers or just Premium? Do you simply show your pass to get in or do you have to arrange ahead of time to get a special ticket?

Taken from the Disneyland AP website:

Quote:
Preview the Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar Before It Opens to the Public
Get a glimpse into the future of Disney's California Adventure® Park through the eyes of Walt Disney Imagineers. Take advantage of a special Passholder privilege by visiting the Blue Sky Cellar on October 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2008 before it opens to the public.*

Marvel at the creative process used to develop current ideas into future attractions. Imagineers have revealed an abundance of materials in the Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar where innovative concepts are cultivated:

Sketches, concept art, models and maquettes
Note cards describing plans for new attractions, shops, shows and restaurants
A video journal featuring the Imagineer's creative progress displayed on a spectacular 103-inch plasma television.
Also, answer a variety of trivia questions on one of four interactive video screens to learn more about Walt Disney's adventures in California and how they inspired shows and attractions at Disney's California Adventure® Park.

Additional Information
Wheelchair Access: Enter through the standard queue.
Preview times are
Oct. 16 – Oct 19 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily
* Previews are on a first-come, first-serve basis and may involve long wait times. Each Guest must show a valid Annual Passport to be permitted entry during these specific preview times. Blockout days apply.
So, just show up, wait in line, and show your AP outside the center and voilŕ! You're in!

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

I have a question. I have liked the theming of Paradise Pier for a very long time, but why are they changing a whole area to fit the theme of TSMM instead of changing TSMM (or building it like the rest of it in the first place) to fit the rest of PAradise Pier? Something just doesn't make sense.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

^ Because Paradise Pier currently comes off as rather gaudy and charmless, which isn't what Disney should be making. TSMM's victorian look is beautiful and fits the theme of a victorian seaside carnival as opposed to a modern carnival that Paradise Pier currently represents.
