Sun Wheel is listed now as opening 4/24/2009, as of today. It might close one day later also.

The 10/27 date for the midway games closure disappeared. But it is still visible on the hub.

Wow, its going to take that long to put a Big Mickey Head; anyone know when the Midway Games are going to open up?

Someone here told me that the weird Spaceship Earth-ish Mickey Head pattern on California Screamin' is not going away, but I just saw that Paradise Pier concept art where it was replaced with a cool, vintage-looking sign for the Pier and a sun in the circle. Anyone know for sure if this is still part of the plan?

The Sun Wheel will also play a part in the World of Color show, so I'm going to assume that they are swapping out/upgrading lighting on the entire wheel as well as lighting control systems. They may also be doing work on the loading platform area.

well you have to consider that along with the Mickey icon the sunwheel will get all its cabins repainted and themed. The structure will also get some rehab work done and new lighting added. The queue area will be themed with lots of victorian elements and the ugly mirror retaining wall will also be covered and themed.

as far as i know the Mickey on the coaster is still scheduled to be removed and replaced with the logo for the pier

Is that a rethemed Jumpin' Jellyfish in the background? Looks more like a parachute drop than the jellyfish.

I think that is Jumpin' Jellyfish. Doesn't look all that different to me.
