Orange Stinger (Swings), Golden Zephyr, etc. are all throwbacks to those rides. Disney did follow through on bringing those rides back in an updated Disney fashion. Well, when you put it that way, that orange peel makes perfect theming sense at DCA.

MintCrocodile from over on MI has some new pics from today.. In some of the ones of Midway Mania, you can see they were testing the first screen where you will have your practice shots. It's kind of hard to see through the scaffolding...

Am I the only one that is bothered by the fact that DCA closes earlier then the Disneyland park?

Well, yes - but they don't have the crowds, to provide the need to stay open later. They haven't built it, so they don't come - amazing how that works...

If they could get people to stay later, they would stay open later. As it is, they know that most everyone was going home after the second parade (And that all the AP's were leaving for Disneyland) so they close when the studies tell them to.

Probably will take the completion of the "Placemaking Project" with a fully built-out Cars Land, and another E-Ticket or two like a modified "Rock N Roller Coaster", or a motion-base ride. And more live entertainment options that keep people there, dancing and drinking and eating into the evening. When they can see a profit in staying open later, they will.

If it's any consolation, DCA will be staying open until 10 pm more and more in the coming months. It does so on the weekends now, then for the 2 peak weeks of Spring Break starting in mid-March, it is open 10am - 10pm every day. I always hated when they had that park close at 9 even during summer. But I guess the place just empties out so much after the Electrical Parade. For right now, I am sure the 2Fer deal is helping to get people in there which could be one reason for staying open till 10.

When they fished out that idea, they SHOULD HAVE thrown it back

A steel coaster disguised as a wooden coaster by a fake pier/boardwalk,
and ending up looking like Knott's or Six Flags makes me ill, how could Imagineering think of something so NOTHING and think it was a "GOOD?" idea?

I didn't read the whole thread (I know, bad Joel!) but I read somewhere that the Hyperion is on the way out to make room for Rock N Roller Coaster? I thought Hyperion was supposed to get redone and all spiffied up. Don't get me wrong I love RnRC, but not at the expense of the Hyperion and the shows that go inside. But, for this I turn to the many more informed at Mice Chat than I. Any truth to this?
