they were thinking about using a system of cables that looked "decent" according to another micechatter.(or maybe even mouseinfo-er)

There was an extensive discussion of this issue in a post a couple of weeks ago by Techskip, I think it was just titled Trolly Troubles. A cable system seemed to be the best option, being both historically accurate and funcionally effective, and it sounds like that's probably what WDI is planning.

There was also some discussion of the parade route and those in the know claimed that the route was already going to be changed and that the new route would not go thru any of the areas where the streetcar is to avoid any issues with float height.

yah, the float height is what I was wondering about. and after looking at some concept art, although i know that doesn't mean it's set in stone, it looks like there are overhead cables. As for my new parade route, I guess i'll have to find another configuration.

Isn't the parade route rerouted so that it doesn't go in the hub? I forget.

Yeah, it basically goes from Carsland to Paradise Pier. (Or Vice Versa)

From the slides I saw from Imagineering, the entry to Cars land was actually a big street. It didn't click with me but now it actually makes sense if that will be the new parade route.

I wonder how they will route people trying to go from the front to the back of the park during parades, it seems like that route will make that difficult.

well, it will be like it is now. I mean the current route is Sunshine Plaza, past a bug's land, towards the vinery and along PP. the New route is basically the same except the carsland part to the vinery, replaces the Sunshine plaza part to the vinery.

From what I've heard so far, HPB will now be called Hollywoodland...I was apalled at the name at first, but then it sunk in and I went "oooooo!!", This name would allow for The Hollywood area to be more 30's themed due to the "historic-ness" of that name, very very neat WDI and Hollywoodland was originaly supposed to be a new land at Disneyland during the Eisner era and part of the failed "Disney Decade"

And the Muppets being replaced with a Narnia attraction? Sounds great and all but is this going to be a 3D show or an actual ride? Either way I support this idea, but I'd much rather see a ride.

If I was in charge, there would be a incarnation of the Great Movie ride located were Monsters is now, then the muppets and millionaire buildings would be combined to house a Mary Poppins elaborate dark ride, All the new architecture in the backlot area would be like the Walt Disney Studios in the 30's and there would be a model train circling this area just like the one in the real studio during Walt's time, It would act as the "peoplemover" of the backlot. Then the north east area were Hollywood and vine was, would be torn out and a new show building would be built for a sound studio themed attraction(a more appropriatly themed Rockin' Roller coaster maybe? just something related to a sound studio and It should be an E ticket)

Then apart from the backlot area there would be the real hollywood area including the TOT and Hyperion theater, plus lots of updated architecture to look like real hollywood and a better area of the street leading up to the TOT instead of the nothing-ness that's there now.

I like the Mary Poppins idea, it definitely deserves a ride of its own. I also think a GMR would be a cool addition as well as another E-Ticket. I kind of doubt that the Monter's building would be big enough though.

I don't really think they are going to stress the backlot aspect anymore though, so I would retheme the whole land to uniformly support the 30's Hollywood's golden age theme. I don't think the backlot theme should or will stay and I'm skeptical about recreating tto much of the studios because studio buildings are not that appealing and I think the train would seem strange.

I have an answer to all of your worries

first, I accidentaly didn't put in there that it would be a new show building that holds the new GMR and that the ride would also go through the Mary poppins ride
It will be a 30's backlot and be much more elaborate and exiting than what is there now, and the rest of Hollywood will be strictly "real hollywood in the 30's" The train fits because it was actualy there back then when Walt ran the studio and this addition would add to the "Walt's california" that WDI wants DCA to become. In order to show that this makes sence to normal guests is that before riding it, the guests will see a preshow video of walt riding the train and explain why it's there and what it will do. heres a video that will show Walt on the train, The pre-show can be in black and white and look like it was produced then and use some of this footage...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQfxKz8Y7d8

This is a pic of the old Disney studios, It dosn't have to look exactly like this in it's layout, but It should use the slightly more detailed and elaborate architecture that this studio possesses

Can you please post your arm chair imagineering IDEAS on a seperate thread from the PROJECT TRACKER. I like your ideas but let's not confuse people about what IS happening and what might be fun in your imagination. Otherwise the rumor that a Mary Poppins ride is going in will start to circulate.
