"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

From the Los Angeles Times travel blog:

Disney shops to reflect Walt’s history
According to artist concept sketches, each store along the re-themed California Adventure main street (lower case for now) will carry a historically significant hommage to Walt Disney’s past. Here’s a rundown of the shop names and their subtexts:

Western shop façades
* Mortimer Market — Disney’s original name for Mickey Mouse before his wife, Lillian, persuaded him to change it
* Carolwood Trains, Craft & Hobby — Name of Disney’s miniature railroad in the backyard of his Hombly Hills home
* Horace’s Pawn Shop — Animated horse friend of Mickey Mouse and boyfriend of Clarabelle Cow
* Julius & Sons Tailors — Animated cat considered Disney’s first regularly recurring character
* Clarabelle’s Corner Café — Animated cow friend of Minnie Mouse and girlfriend of Horace Horsecollar

Eastern shop façades
* Oswald’s Gas & Oil — A pre-Mickey Mouse animated rabbit created by Disney
* Seward’s Five & Dime — Early Disney animation studio in Hollywood
* Doc Sherwood Apothecary — A retired doctor in Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Mo., who paid the young artist to draw pictures of his horse, Rupert
* Kingswell Camera — Early Disney animation studio in Los Feliz
* Elias & Co. Dept. Store — Disney’s middle name and the name of his father

What a wonderful tribute to Walt! Now hopefully those shops will be specific with their merchandise like Disneyland used to be. Thank you for sharing MasterGracy!

I agree!

Oswald’s Gas & Oil Merch would be a must for me...

EDIT:
Scratch that...
"Gas & Oil" sounds like it might be a beverage stop...

So basically they are admitting they got DCA all wrong and they are redoing everything!

I have to raise my eyebrows at the Beer Garden addition tho.......

has any thought been given on how to make the TOT fit in better because right now it sticks out like a 13 story big thumb all on its own....a Haunted Land would be nice! Just my personal preference of course lol

I think there are plenty of other things that stick out like sore thumbs at DCA.

At least the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is supposed to be located in Hollywood, which is in California. Although, I have wondered why DCA's Hollywood Tower Hotel is located in a movie studio backlot.

I think the idea is to remove the 90s studio backlot and retheme the place into a REAL 1930s Hollywood. I know Al Lutz mentioned a small portion of the area (where Monsters inc. is) will remain a backlot but I just have the fealing that Imagineering wants to remove the whole backlot concept entirely.

Oh and i'm not sure how I feel about the stores...there a bunch of cartoon tie-ins for the most part.

I live in l.a. and used to in Hollywood there actually is a Tower Hotel in Hollywood tho its now an apt bldng but I think TOT was most based on the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood which is haunted btw.

I was thinking more in terms of more haunted sort of stuff I would love to see a Haunted Land or whatever with rides like HM and TOT and other similiar themed stuff

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

1. the whole lets create a miniature version of the state that we are already in idea was so dumb it was apparently so stupid that no one could see how dumb it really was!

2. Making the paradise pier area look like a carny show was just so darn classy!

3. Midway games uh didnt anyone at dis ever read the quote from Walt Disney? "There will be no carnival midway games at Disneyland" - WD of course technically they werent at Disneyland but.................... you get the gist

4. Also dont forget: "No alcohol will be served at Disneyland" - WD has anyone forgotten the whole reason why DCA was built in the first place? At one point dis execs (if you can call them that) wanted to start selling booze at DL what? yes they did and it cause such an uproar they got "smart" and said lets build a new park next door and not call it Disneyland and sell booze there instead.. .ouila DCA is born

btw one of the new things going into the "old" dca is a beer garden

nuff said
