Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

Short of breaking in and running the ride ourselves, we certainly intend to take advantage of any opportunity to experience this ride. But it looks like they're only opening it at exactly the time when we don't want to be in the park...summer season. Oh well, we're going back to Orlando in the fall...

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

I have quick question.

Are there any plans to fix the Pacific Warf / Bountiful Valley Farm / Robert Mondavi area?

Because I've always thought that this was the worst area in the entire park. All of the lands seem to collide in a strange way, and there is no real atmosphere. The powerlines are horrible too!

Are there any placemaking projects planned for this area to make everything blend together a little bit better?

I've always thought that the crush coaster could fit perfectly with this area if it is themed like the one in Paris!

The actual farm area is being converted into Carsland.

The winery will stay as is and the new preview center will be in the old Seasons of the Vine building.

The Pacific Wharf will remain, but with an expanded restaurant location (so I heard).

Carsland's entrance begins between the Tortilla Factory and the Farm area.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

here is the breakdown.

The wine area will remain as is. That area is actually very well themed.

Bugsland will be smaller since a good chunk of the farm area will be used for the Mater attraction which will serve as aprelude to CarsLand. The tractor/junkyard/farm feel of the attraction will blend in with the surrounding bugsland. Lots of landscaping and theming.

The wharf area is not scheduld to be touched --------YET.

Some ideas are being considered for the future of the Wharf area. One thought is to retheme the area and turn it into a San Francisco district once some of the sponsor contracts are over. If and when contracts are over it would give WDI the oppurtunity to retheme the area. Remember that the old San Francisco row of buildings will be no more after mermaid opens.

The bathrooms are due to be moved to the empty buildings in the san Francisco row area. Those buildings will then get a vitcorian overlay that also matches the design look of the Mermaid attraction.

Of course all this is early blue sky so it may or may not happen

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

I just wanted to let everybody know that I have just finished putting all of the DCA concept art together in handy galleries in the new MiceChat Albums system. The original post had multiple links to various postings featuring the various images -- but now you can access all of the images in four handy galleries. These galleries, like this thread, will be updated whenever new art, images, or publicity photos are released/leaked.

Enjoy!

You can see the galleries below or refer to this thread's original post.

Keen-eyed gallery browsers may notice a big nice photo of the Carsland model.

One who wishes to remain anonymous kindly sent it over to me. It's an interesting look at the future of DCA.

I've gone ahead and labeled some of the structures on the model to give an idea of where Carsland will be located and its size and scope. The big yellow line indicates the current backstage line.

Note that there will be a pathway connecting Carsland with Pacific Wharf.

Wow that's awesome! You can kinda start to make out the other things too! I think the building on the left has to be the restaurant similar to the Sci Fi Dine-In at Disney's Hollywood Studios. At least the little sign in front looks like it.

Luigi's Roamin Tires! This used to be an E-ticket, folks! And you can even see the leaning tower of tires in the front!!

Cozy Cones! Flo's V8 Cafe is across from it! You can see the 60s style tent for Filmore's, right next to a military bunker for Sarge!

I'm so geeking out!

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker

so cool! I'm fascinated with the model of Carsland! A few things that I noticed that i'll point out are:
1. you can see on the not-labeled pick that there's a connecting path into Flik's FF from Carsland (look at the outline on the floor of the model)
2. from others, i've heard the pararde route goes along the main promenade in Carsland (the street perpendicular to the yellow line on the second pic) Does any one know how the parade floats in get to this location?
3. in the background you can see the eletrical wires. I'm guessing that the Radiator springs facade will blcok those from view, but are these ever going to be placed into the ground - yah, i know that has to do with the city, and it would be costly, but i was just wondering if this will ever go into affect?

MasterGracey, once again great thread! I always love seeing the new pics. thanks!

1.+2. I think the path that you say is to Flik's Fun Fair is actually the route where the parade vehicles come out onto the main road. I'm pretty sure A Bug's Land will still be closed off.

3. The canyon walls are indeed meant to block as much of anaheim as possible from view.

really? if you look at the layout, it looks like it connects there here look at this: I have what the colors indicate, below the picture.

Red - Carsland
Blue - a bug's land
Orange - Hollywoodland (including new entrance)
Yellow - Golden State (Pacific Wharf)
Green - Paradise Pier
Purple - Possible connection between Carsland and a bug's land
Light Blue - Backstage entrances/areas
Purple - I believe is the parade float storage building
Brown Dots - What may be the parade route - starting from the east backstage door

Maybe, the floats get from storage to the onstage entrance by traveling behind Radiator Springs Racers
