Anybody think that, with this MK mermaid cloning rumor, WDW will get its mermaid before DCA ?

I do. No placemaking work to do, I don't think but will depend on the location (Please make it 20,000) And no park aera opening/closing schedule like in DCA.

I definitely think that's possible. I would guess though that they will open them around the same time so that they can cross promote just like they have for TSMM.

If the Voyage of Little Mermaid comes to WDW first, I would honestly be a little disappointed because DLR needs more exclusive rides and I thought this would be good ride to give DCA a little originality.

On the flip side of that though, is that if the MK opens it first (which I doubt, since it's not even confirmed yet) then the DCA one could conceivably be more advanced, since all the bugs will be worked out with the first one, much like Splash Mountain. Just hope budgets don't get cut and you end up with the Pooh situation either.

If WDW doesn't get one around the same time, you can bet they'll get one ASAP. That's a ride the kids (especially the little girls, I bet) will be begging to go on.

Unless WDW has some major cash sitting around, they're going to have to wait to set aside a budget for the attraction at the next available time. Not to mention their attraction will be determined by the size of their budget.

If they indeed go for the final green light, which means final budget approval, then we should expect their version to be completed no sooner than DCA's version if that's what they want. This is pretty recent and they must do some surveys before designing, unless they have done this already or is underway, and this costs money and takes time.

It's a shame MK couldn't get a Little Mermaid attraction designed just for them. At least the one going into DCA is being redesigned for that park. I would like it if they got their own little spin on it. The last several attractions installed at the DLR have been either spun-off or shared with other projects at other resorts; such as Space Mountain, Monsters Inc, Toy Story Mania, and now possibly Little Mermaid. Thank you Jay... for getting us one step closer to Six Flags... or Universal Studios as of late too. This seems to be the latest trend.

I agrea, they could at least try and build something similar but smaller to Tokyo Disney Sea Triton's Kingdom, an indoor miniland themed like under the sea. This could add 2 or 3 mini attractions. Several of its design has been inspired by the effect they wanted to use on the queue area of Disneyland Paris' own mermaid project.

I really hope they don't copy the Mermaid ride over to WDW. California Adventure needs more original rides to lure tourists to the park. An E ticket such as this and CarsLand should do the trick but only if they stay exclusive to DCA.

Space, philharmagic, expedition everest, imagination, the land, motor cars whatever show, Kilamanjara safari, RNRC, stitch and laugh factory (they could keep those)plus WDW has all kinds of recreation areas, beaches, horse back riding, fishing, two very popular water parks. IF WDW can not pull in crowds with all the available stuff they have then marketing needs some help.
Maybe if they concentrated in fixing up their already built attractions they wouldn't need to be cloning others.

Yah, the only thing that is really worth while for me is that is truly unique and / or superior is Epcot, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Rock n' Rollercoaster. Oh and I do enjoy Pleasure Island too.

I'd be REALLY dissapointed! DCA does not have a single, well imagineered attraction that wasn't cloned at WDW, for example, Soarin', Tower of Terror, Toy Story Midway Mania, and now The little Mermaid? How are they going to expect DCA to get higher attendance if they don't make it worthwhile when they can just go to WDW for THAT and more????


It's not all just that, that bugs me, It's that when WDW gets something that was originally meant for the DLR, WDW gets ALL the credit for it! On top of that, putting Midway mania in WDW made them make the stupid "Toy Story Mania" campain, were they tell the guests it's called "Toy Story Mania" on all the park maps, commercials, and ads. When clearly it has the extra "Midway" in the actual title.. how Stupid is that?
