On every youtube video, it talks about WDW's version as if it's the most unique thing on the planet. It bugs me, that's all

I want Disneyland to be successful, but seriously, the less tourists, the better. Let them go to WDW and get their videos.

I wonder if WDW would really put a Mermaid ride in MK, though. They already have the live action Voyage of the Little Mermaid at DHS. So, at a minimum they'd have to change the name.

[rant] I wouldn't want to see The Little Mermaid ride be cloned over to WDW....DLR needs to have its own original rides.... Rides like Soarin' were things that should have remained EXCLUSIVE to DL...it just shows that the creativity department would rather cut corners and design a ride for all the parks then to have originals in each of their park [/rant] but I am totally ready for all these improvements to be finalized and then DLR will have a reason to be a true Multi day park.

Don't blame the creative department or WDI for this cloning. They have pitched several unique attractions for both resorts and WDW put them down and insisted in the mermaid attraction form DCA.

WDI was basically told to start working on a clone for the MK

I would just like to see more original attractions per park...if that makes sense. I am sorry if I sounded so bitter it just making clone attractions makes it so that there is soon going to be no reason to travel to one resort vs. the other...if that makes sense..I also have to keep in mind they they do things for families that travel long distances for the parks....so in one aspect ride cloning works....but in another it makes it seems like Disney is pinching money by reusing ideas

Soarin' at Epcot runs out of Fastpass within an hour after opening and lines can reach close to 3 hour wait times in the standby line. This happens on a daily basis since the ride opened in 2005.

From a business POV it was a wise move to clone this particular attraction.

I was asking because I've never been to Florida. Your answer is more informative than the previous answer I got. This makes more sense. Also, I posited no opinion as to whether I thought it was a good or bad clone. To that end, though, I agree with you. There are no other rides like this outside the Disney brand and it should be at WDW. I only wish they had produced a different film for Florida; I realize it was a monetary decision not to do so.

Sure not necessarily, but likely. If more people go on the ride in FL than in CA then it is likely that there are more FL videos than CA ones.

Lets move on, though, this is a side issue.
