Scavenger Hunt of sorts

Hello everyone.

I know this is kind of short notice, but I am going to be at Disneyland on Sunday, helping a buddy of mine do a scavenger hunt with his children. We have a lot of little things that they have to find around the park and write down on a list of questions...

Can you all give me more ideas of what things 12-13 year old girls have to search for? It can be trivia, or statues, whatever. I just need to give them hints and they will go off and look around the park.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a question for ya...

"This wacky fountain is one only a rabbit could love."

Answer: The Roger Rabbit fountain in ToonTown in front of Roger Rabbit's Car-Toon Spin.

And while you're at it, ask if the Abominable Snowman appreciates being referred to by the name of his smelly second cousin, Bigfoot.

Re: Scavenger Hunt of sorts

Here's an easy one to start them off with...

How many train stations are currently in Disneyland? For bonus points name all of them.

Answer: 4 (Main Street Station, New Orleans Square, ToonTown Station, and Tomorrowland Station).

Thanks for the quick responses... I had a couple of those, but the others are great. I appreciate the help. It is going to be fun. Too bad there has to be a break of about an hour at noon time.... I have to meet up at the hub for my first meet up. Thanks again.

Re: Scavenger Hunt of sorts

If you're following Mariezp's "Photo Scavenger Hunt" list better give them either inexpensive digital cameras or a real 35MM "Point-and-Shoot" that takes regular film - With 50 items for each one to find and photograph (not counting retakes when you know it won't come out right) disposable cameras for multiple kids will get expensive fast.

You might want to go over the basics of photography that might not be obvious to 12-year-olds:

* - Divide your "frame" into thirds both horizontally and vertically, and put the subject off to one side to break things up.

* - Flip the camera and use "Portrait" mode when the subject is vertical - like The Matterhorn, Sleeping Beauty Castle...

* - Consider the background - you don't want a pole growing out of someone's head - unless of course, you do...

* - Try to have the sun or the main light source behind the photographer, not the subject - lens flare isn't pretty.

* - Get close to your subjects in a dark room or at night - the average pocket camera flash isn't good past about 12' to 15'.

* - Most consumer cameras aren't waterproof - keep it in a Ziploc bag or a specially made waterproof camera bag when going on rides. And leave the camera in a locker when riding Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Rapids where you're very likely to get soaked.

* - NO FLASH on rides don't annoy the other riders. Decent digital cameras or 400-speed film can do low-light photos OK without flash indoors. At least good enough to be used in the contest. ("Daylight" film or super cheap cameras, fuhgeddaboudit.)

Re: Scavenger Hunt of sorts

Oh yeah, another fun thing to do is let them collect pressed pennies. I never knew there were so many machines in the park but it turns out they are everywhere. There is a list you can print off for them at parkpennies.com.
Of course, you'd have to keep them stocked up with change but still fun. And they do sell the penny collector albums in some of the stores in the park.
