Al Lutz 2005 article about Main Street Christmas Loop:

Does anyone know where I can find that article, I think it was from 2005....about the hard-to-find songs on the Main Street Christmas Loop.

He listed the albums that each song came from.

I don't think the Al Lutz archives go back that far, or do they?

Not sure about the article, but have you looked at disneymusicloops? They have a list of the Main Street Christmas music dated from 1972 - Present

Re: Al Lutz 2005 article about Main Street Christmas Loop:

Yes, here's the listing for all the songs played on the Main Street Christmas Loop:

http://www.disneymusicloops.com/wdw/wdwmk-ms-xmas.html

However, Al Lutz did a more in-depth article on where to get those Christmas albums, many of which are out-of-print.

I think it was his regular monthly posting, in December of 2005, but the whole thing was devoted to the Christmas loop.

Don't the Al Lutz archives go back to 2005 ?

Re: Al Lutz 2005 article about Main Street Christmas Loop:

Cool !

http://web.archive.org/web/200511250.../al112105a.htm

I love the photographs of the hard-to-find LPs. I'd been looking for that article for awhile.

Here's something you may not know about these rare albums:

For instance: 'The David Rose Christmas Album'---Capitol/EMI has all those songs in their vaults, and I can tell you they've had many requests to reissue the songs on CD.

They've refused, for years now, because they would have to pay royalties to the estate of David Rose, and they're too cheap to do it.

Cheapskates.

That album could be big, too.

There's a big market for rare Christmas albums and hard-to-find instrumentals/orchestrals of the past.

Amazon currently has a rare edition of the 1960s Percy Faith's 'Music of Christmas Vol. 2' ...and it's going for $180.00 !!!

Can you imagine, a 1960s Christmas album for that much money....and they've only got two copies left at that price !

Re: Al Lutz 2005 article about Main Street Christmas Loop:

Whoa, lookie what I found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDJZo7-MsFU

The (Hollyridge Strings)--- Main Street Christmas Loop--- version of "Jingle Bell Rock" begins at 2:67 !

Also, the David Rose music---- I found something on E-Bay which has both David Rose's 'Christmas Song', and Hollyridge Strings 'Jingle Bell Rock'.....and that's on CD, not Vinyl !!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/Instrumental-Chr...QQcmdZViewItem

(hope that link works!)

Lastly, for David Rose's 'Christmas Waltz', which I love so much...I found a CD on Amazon which features just that one song, and you can get a brief sample, there, too:

Re: Al Lutz 2005 article about Main Street Christmas Loop:

Does anyone here like the song 'The Christmas Tree' off the David Rose Christmas Album ???

http://www.disneymusicloops.com/wdw/wdwmk-ms-xmas.html

(It's the first song in the Main Street Christmas Loop)

Well, I finally found that song on an old Christmas radio broadcast. If you want to listen to that particular song...

1. Go here: http://www.normv.net/stream/xmas.html

2. At left jukebox and click where it says "WPAT-FM 1"

3. At 29:38 is 'The Christmas Tree' in it's full version

One song down, and 29 left to go!

Re: Al Lutz 2005 article about Main Street Christmas Loop:

Pisces, you're making me laugh. The David Rose version of the Christmas Waltz is my husband's and my favorite song. It got stuck in our heads on our honeymoon at WDW in '93 and I've always wanted a single of it. A friend of mine actually taped the master track of the loop and we enjoy it every Christmas. I finally found the David Rose LP on Ebay for cheap, as well as a Paul Muriat LP (he's on either the Main St or the Epcot loop, can't remember). If you're interested in finding them, your best bet is Ebay. I think I got mine for around $6.

Re: Al Lutz 2005 article about Main Street Christmas Loop:

I've been working on this project for several weeks now and am having NO luck in finding the "David Rose" album. Neither "The David Rose Christmas Album" or the reissue that was titled "The Little Drummer Boy". There were a couple of ebay auctions where the album was in a mixed lot of Christmas vinyl, but I missed out on both by dumb (bad) luck! ARGH!

I've even got TWO of the "Lawrence Welk "Silent Night and 13 Other Best Loved Christmas Songs" because the first one I bought off Amazon was unplayable even after physically cleaning it and then scrubbing the wav file as best I could with Adobe's Audition software (formerly CoolEdit).

MUCH of the music in the loop is available for free download on the web now, since most of it has never been released on CD. Including the Ed Sullivan album and even the individual tracks by Hollyridge Strings (the song is also available on the release "Christmas Favorites by the Hollyridge Strings") and Hollywood Pops Orchestra. I was even able to find "The Christmas Tree" by David Rose online for free. Google is your friend.

HINT: Don't forget (as Al Lutz mentions) that the Felix Slatkin "Lhr Kinderlein Kommet" is listed incorrectly on the album "Season's Greetings" as "I heard The Bells" so when you find that album, don't think that it's not there. It's just got the wrong track title on it.

It's just the rest of that dang "David Rose" album that I can't find. One guy has a Cassette of it, but wants almost $90 for it. Another person I found has the album, but wants $25 for it!!! I want it, but not that bad!
