Josh Groban will be there, also. They are doing 2 tapings on Saturday.. one earlier(the guest control people are scheduled 630am till 3pm), and one after 6pm (guest control from 6pm-11pm).
They are also taping again on the 18th of November, in case you can't get to this one!!!
....which means they have to have the tree up by at least Friday, as I've been saying all along....if it's not up as we speak.
Also, how can they film a Christmas parade without the garlands criss-crossing Main St. ????

I'm guessing in Miley Cyrus and Josh Groban are going to be there they will set up a stage in front of the castle, which means the castle will be completed enough to have it on TV. Ryan Secrest will probably be just MC-ing it.
"completed enough" ????
If that's the case, then they might as well haul out the undecorated tree weeks ago.
---Especially if they are willing to go on national televison and an audience of thousands (millions) with a half-completed castle.
Have they, or will they have done adequate rehearsal and testing on the functionality and light switches by Saturday....?
It'd be pretty embarrassing to end up with all kinds of glitches, flubs and bugs during a live, or taped, broadcast.
Tomorrow's Thursday. They've got 48 hours till show time. I imagine they're scrambling......

Right, but they hadn't even gotten the Big Tree flocked when you started saying it - they just got it stood up backstage. Anyone know exactly how far along they are at the moment?
If they haven't got the tree at least "filled" (extra branches) flocked and started on the light wiring by now, they're going to have to really hustle to get it done and out and up and guyed on Friday morning - so they have overnight Friday/Saturday to do any last minute fixes and decorating.
The garlands can go up quick if they've all been cleaned up and pre-tested - the anchor points on the buildings are permanent, as are the wiring connections. Two Snorkelifts, Snap, Snap, Plug, Test, and on to the next one. One crew of four or five techs, a truck for the garlands, one night, the whole route.
And the garlands can come right back down again just as quickly on Saturday night, and stay down for a few weeks till the Xmas Parade starts.

There's No Place Like 127.0.0.1
I'm not worried, hopefully I'll be there Saturday.
Saturday will be crazy crowded. This is Veteran's Day weekend. Trying to manage the crowds and conduct an actual filming of a parade, and all the technical stuff that goes into that......
What a mess, and that's if everything goes off without a hitch....which it won't.
There's always some glitches, and unexpecteds....even in the best of circumstances.
Maybe, at the very least, there'll be good weather ???

Well, that is how DL opened in 1955...maybe it's a harbinger of great things to come? It'd be pretty embarrassing to end up with all kinds of glitches, flubs and bugs during a live, or taped, broadcast.
Good Question. The answer is very simple. They will film it the same way that they did last year, with no Main Street garland. The Parade of Dreams was still running, which as you probably know, is too tall for the garland. While I did not sit for the filming I did watch them film parts of it. The basically filmed single parade units in front of the castle on the Tomorrowland side of the Hub. They did not film on Disneyland's Main Street at all if I remember right. BFJen can probably explain it better. She did watch the filming with her family last year. If you look at the picture I posted in the Christmas Tree thread you can see there is no garland across Main Street.
Since they do the parade coverage like they do, they don't need the garlands up. THey also don't need the tree. It was up last year because holidays had started at that point.
I wonder if the tree is not up this weekend if they will get a lot of complaints. "I was here last year and it was up by now!" I look forward to seeing if it goes up before the weekend or not.
Quite a few years ago we were there for my husband's 30th bday, which is November 2nd, and they were filming for the Macy's Xmas parade that day on main street, long before xmas decorations went up. They filmed the special "show" that was shot in front of the castle with snow blowing and fireworks going off and all, separately from the parade filming on main street. My family was selected to be background to the special show part, they gave us all ears and they shot the singing/dancing twice. It was very exciting watching the parade on Thanksgiving day and actually seeing some of us in the background.
My point is that it never occured to me that there was a lack of xmas decorations, and it did not seem lacking on Thanksgiving watching the final product.
