Re: Where to recharge Cell Phone at DLR

I know for sure that there is an outlet in the Hearthstone Lounge and one in the Trattoria in DCA. How do I know this? Because I was with a certain MiceChatter (who shall remain nameless) who left his camera battery charger behind in both of these places.

I have seen solar charges as well has charges which run off batteries. I have no idea how they work though. Luckily my phone can hold a charge for a week or a good 3 days if I'm using it a lot.

If you can not find a another battey, Some store sell a battey back up that plug into your cell phone.
this unit will give you about four hour and some time more.

best thing to do is get new battey at any cell place near you.

also you can order one online Batteryzone.com

There is this really great thing my dad got for flying with his laptop. It's a Black and Decker Portable Power plug...they have lots of different kinds. You charge the unit and then you have 9 hours of power that you can just plug into wherever. No AC connection needed...they have all kinds. This might be a better solution than finding a plug and waiting.

Re: Where to recharge Cell Phone at DLR

First off, if you don't want to trade up to a new phone go get a new battery. $30 and you won't have to worry about the phone dying during an important call.

For camera batteries, you can give the Main Street Photo Center your charger and dead batteries, and they'll put them in a closet with an outlet to charge.

But for cellphones, your best bet is the restaurants - there are always outlets hidden away in corners for the overnight cleaning crew to use, you just pick a table next to them.

There are many other places, but they try to hide many of the outlets to maintain the theming and illusion. And some are just painted the same color as the wall so they don't stand out. If you "Think like an Electrician" you can find them.

Re: Where to recharge Cell Phone at DLR

During the Pirates 3 premiere, I needed to charge my battery so that I could keep posting in the thread that sunk MiceChat. ...A CM spotted me charging my phone in a plug in a store, and I was told I wasn't allowed to do so. It's a liability for Disney if I get shocked or electrocuted somehow.

I was directed to the Main Street Photo Supply Co., where you can leave your phone and they'll charge your battery for you. I don't know if they have a universal phone charger, or you need to provide your own - but the service is available at the Main Street Photo Supply Co.

If you don't want to leave your phone and risk getting caught - there are plugs all over the park. There are some in the Main Street Opera House lobby, upstairs in the Golden Horseshoe is great, and I'm sure the Hotel Lobbys would work nicely as well.

The Lounge at Steakhouse 55 in the DL hotel has outlets. A friend of mine works there and she says a lot of business people go in and plug in their laptops for a charge. Shouldn't have a problem there!

Re: Where to recharge Cell Phone at DLR

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd never even thought of the Photo Supply!

I'm not buying another battery because after 3+ years its time to buy another phone. I'm not rushing into a decision before Saturday though.

I'm curious whose phone takes 2 hours to recharge though, mine doesn't take that long. I'm wanting to recharge at some point during the day because I know the battery will lose some juice and it will be a looooooooooong day. A 2 hour drive to Disneyland, staying until 9pm at least, then driving 2 hours back home, I figure I'll need a charge somewhere.

I did this a few months ago - you have to supply your own charger/power cord, though. They give you a slip of paper so you have proof and ask when you want to come back. It's SO nice and SO convenient!

Does your phone have to be on the entire time or are you using this as a way of communicating with everyone in the park?

We take walkie talkies sometimes, but other times use the cell phones (now that Verizon has that deal for cell phone to cell phone calls.) However, even though my battery works well, I turn it off when we are all together.

GroovyYaYa, to answer I do usually leave the cell on all the time* but that does make sense to turn it off while the group is together.

Guests used to (and probably still do) try to leave their electronics plugged into the walls at the Star Trader and I would have to tell them to unplug them. So unless you want an encounter like that with a CM, I wouldn't suggest plugging it into a random wall.

City Hall will plug in devices. I've done it both at DL, and WDW. They will tag it, and charge it behind the counter for you, just be sure to bring the charger.

Hoe does anyone survive DL without a cellphone?

We used to meet up at the castle at a specific time and go from there.
