Well if you are going to post claims.. it usually helps to have sources ready to back those claims up. You keep referencing things and then don't post them. Please save us the go-around and if you are going to quote articles or references, just post them in the OP

I can find no evidence that Tron 2.0 has been approved by Disney for production. Amazon's IMDB.COM put up a page that says TRON 2010, but everything else is blank, because this has not been approved by Disney and they only post approved projects for fear of studio lawsuits. If you announce that something has been approved, please post the primary source evidence, such as a press release or quote from a Disney official that has been posted and sanctioned by the studio and does not consist of rumor.

    http://www.liveplanet.com/projects.asp
The articles and Live Planet do not state that the project has been greenlighted, this is a proposed project where a script has been submitted. Once the film has really been greenlighted, Disney will acknowledge its status as being such. There are many films slated for 2010, Knightrider, Sanford and Son and Toy Story 3. Disney may think the market will be too saturated with remakes and cancel this project at anytime. 50% of film projects that are embarked on are canceled and some just go straight to DVD release. If you can find an article with quotes from a Disney studio spokesperson stating the film has been greenlighted and pre-production has commenced, then please post it, otherwise this claim is not substantiated.

The journalists of The Hollywood Reporter, and Daily Variety for that matter, speak directly to the studios on a daily basis to be able to print articles such as these, verifying the facts from direct sources to relay accurrate information to the industry and beyond. Believe it or don't, however this was news.

Of course any film or especially a long-gestating production such as a 'Tron' sequel or remake can be reshuffled and/or cancelled at any time. This is not news.

It is not the general practice of the major studios to issue a press release stating that a film has "been officially green lit!!!!11one" for your empirical convenience. The Reporter and Variety are the usual mouthpieces for such announcements in one way or another. This sort of information is usually leaked anyway, since it's not in the studio's best interest to issue statments about what films or type of films they will be releasing in the near future (yes, 2 years is the near future in Hollywood), so that rival studios don't try to get the jump on them and prepare their Tron-esque movie first. Remember the Asteroid Movie debacle of a few years ago? The race between Deep Impact and Armageddon? Additionally, 2 years for preproduction, production and post for a film like that is actually a pretty tight schedule. A film like this requires an immense amount of planning to keep costs down to a minimum, so you're looking at probably at least 9 months of preproduction, 6 to 9 months of actual physical production and nearly a year of post. While I appreciate your educated and scientifically motivated skeptiscism, simply swooping in and challenging people for empirical evidence doesn't encourage friendly debate.

I haven't even seen the original Tron, but from the clips I've seen, etc., it sounds like it would make a better "ride through computer/video game" theme than Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.

Wow... I learned a lot in only 3 pages.

Now a bit of clarification. If you are an academic and you make a claim then you need to be able to back it up. Likewise if you challenge the claim then you need to back up your challenge. I found it amazing that individuals on both sides resorted to name dropping, generic statements, and no one bothered to bring up a link until page 3. Here are several more rather interesting links.

Granted it is Wiki but it doesn't list it here

Now as to the original intent of the post, judging from the present company behavior I believe an actual attraction would depend heavily on the popularity of the movie.

Just an FYI... while I have found a variety of comments about the initial Disney hint at Tron back in early 2000 (01 I think possibly 02) the majority of the buzz is based almost entirely on the Hollywood Reporter story. In short it is staking the rep of the Hollywood Reporter which in the past has been pretty accurate. If it is a rumor then it is a pretty powerful one because rotton tomatoes usually won't post just anything. In any event it should be interesting.
