    Red Face Disneyland Band players

Just recently I was in a small discussion with a former New Orleans band member. He was vary bitter about the park and told me (a former cast member myself ) that when his contract was up he left Disney. he lead me to think that he was not wanted but gave me know clue as to why he wouldn't be asked to stay. he described Disney as "the wall mart" of theme parks and lead me to believe that his assumingly negative experience was standard for Disney.

so I wonder how the contracted deals with Disney work. are exceptional cast members asked to re-knew their contract or is their a continual auditioning process.

I can't exactly answer this but I will say they replaced the Dapper Dans... and from what others have told me most contracts aren't that great.

For the actor and musician contracts the pay isn't terrible, but you're at the mercy of someone who has never seen you perform before. They hold the power to say whether or not you stay or go on to the next week, so you're constantly looking over your shoulder and praying you have a job two weeks from now.

this for some reason this isn't clear to me...
1-your at the mercy of someone who has never seen you perform before the audition you gave for the gig or what.

    Re: Disneyland Band players

Employment turnover rates in this country are higher now than they ever have been. It is unfortunate because as soon as a company spends the time and money (believe me it costs a lot!) to train a new employee, they quit and go somewhere else, relishing in their newly aquired experience.

In olden times, disney seemed to be able to hold on to a CM for more than six months. But apparently with their poor hours and low wages, this has become difficult. Of course you all remember Rod Miller, the painist on Main Street? This guy had some magical fingers and a great attitude. I am not sure how long he was with Disney, but I know it was a couple of decades. The chances of them getting, and keeping great employees is a direct reflection of leadership.
