Re: Coming Soon - Journey through California with Huell Howser

Huell may be annoying a vast majority of the time, but his shows topics in and of themselves are cool because you do see places in the state you normally wouldn't.

He did a show on Carpinteria beach once where I vacation every year and I learned so much about it's past, it was really cool!

Re: Coming Soon - Journey through California with Huell Howser

Huell's own website mentioned that he has show on six nights a week, a new theme park series would be great because than Huell would be booked every night of the week. I remember years ago when he first started the show that he would mention that he was relatively new to California, now he is an expert(?) I moved out of CA about 12 years ago so I can no longer judge, but how long does it take now to become a CA expert?

Well, I haven't like Heull for as long as I can remember.
My dad likes to turn it on just to torture me. So if it were to really happen, I would stay as far away as possible.

The line wouldn't move very fast, his fans would take too long admiring the railings and asking stupid questions of the CMs staffing it.

Re: Coming Soon - Journey through California with Huell Howser

I just saw a tidbit of California Gold waiting for the program after it. He spent 10 minutes talking about the Carrillo Ranch, Ranch house and saying how great it was without giving much more than he thought it was great and that the people who have saved it are great. Frankly, as much as I dislike his interviewing style, I would probably love to have him look at something that I have created because all of the awe and fauning (sp?) over me he would do would be great.

    That guy is a character.

^ Do you mean the Camarillo house?

That's VERY close to our house, like 2 miles. The kids have both been there through school, we never have though. I might try to find that episode.

I personally am not a Heull Howser fan. The whole concept of his show is a nice idea, but he himself makes me crazy. It's like seeing an adult acting like a 3 year old. But that's just my opinion.

    LOL, Thisguy74, that was GREAT!!!

I love Huell Howser, even though he is quirky, he is a true California icon.

You haven't seen character until you've seen him get excited over boiling mud! That episode was hysterical, who knew mud could be that exciting.

I can see it now "We're starting our journey today at a clay quarry, that's right a clay quarry, this is shaping up to be a very exciting day. So you make clay into bricks, but not just any bricks, you make clay into the Disney bricks... so how are Disney bricks different? Wow this is exciting we are actually holding a Disney brick!" this would be a 2 hour special!

Cool Re: Coming Soon - Journey through California with Huell Howser

He's kind of like Danny Radcliffe in the 1st Potter movie, only capable of expressing amazement in everything he sees. At least the Potter boy got better.

What's freaking me out though, is even though I've seen his show maybe 1-3 times tops, this is the third reference to him I've encountered this week! My wife's uncle brought him up completely out of the blue. And listening to a commentary on the final Newsradio DVD, Andy Dick said it's his favorite TV show. That fact may sum it up succinctly.

    A bientot.

I don't know about the idea of him having his own attraction, but I think it would be cool to have him narrate something. I think if Disney stuck to a real california history theme and talked to Huell about what they wanted to do with it, he might agree to narrate something.

I wonder if him being gay has something to do with it.
