i like all these ideas. too bad imaggineers dont see this stuff
Earlier the question was posed, "What to do about the show building and how to disguise it as a rock formation in the midst of a wooden forest?"
The answer folks is quite easy:
Behold Devil's Tower in Wyoming. Surrounded by trees and adjacent to the Yellowstone National Monument.
That is an excelent idea! Perhaps make the back of Big Thunder and the front of WRE have the rock formations connecting? I dunno. :P The Imagineers could take inspiration from Disneyland Paris; The Western River Expedition would carry out the story of Big Thunder, like how Phantom Manor carries out the story of Thunder Mesa. Frontierland could be transformed into an American answer for Disneyland Paris's Thunder Mesa. They REALLY do got the extra space to do such a thing. Where Cascade Peak used to be, maybe your Fort Cascade idea could combine with the idea of bringing back the Indians. If I recall once, I read on some site that Indian ghosts took over the trains of Big Thunder Mines and caused them to run away. I do not know if the information is official, but it wasn't a bad idea. "The Indians of Cascade Peak" maybe? It could consist of a show in which the audience can see the indians summoning ghosts to take over the mine trains of Big Thunder? They could maybe use projections or special controled fire to make a surreal image creating fire. :D
Rebuild Cascade Peak, for sure. But inside should be a cavern-themed sit down restaurant with window seats that look out over the RoA.
Move the functions of both the Festival of Fools theatre in the round and the Fantasyland Theatre out to a better facility(ies) on the western side of Downtown Disney. That would free up a lot of inside the berm land for RWA and a southern expansion of Toontown, ala my previous idea...

Disney FAQ#275: What is DCA?
DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.
If you only knew how wrong you are.i like all these ideas. too bad imaggineers dont see this stuffI promise you, Disney has plenty of people frequenting these boards all the time. What is more--most of the ideas we come up with have already been discussed, in some form or another, at WDI. I certainly hope no one here is under the impression that no one at WDI has noticed the available real estate this thread is all about...
I agree that there is enough room to build WRE in the area below, but the building render below is probably not big enough...it would have to extend over the railway. Thunder Mesa was larger than the Pirates building.
Amazing how Disneyland seems to have so much land left even within the berm. Magic Kingdom although larger overall doesn't seem to have any land readily available for expansion without some serious bulldozing, except maybe behind Fantasyland and in the area of Toontown Fair.

Well, I used the Indy building as a template just to show what could fit there. Plus, I'm not suggesting they build all of Thunder Mesa here. That project was HUGE. We've already got Big Thunder, why not the boat ride on the other side of the path? I agree that it would be great to have the DLRR pass right through the building and perhaps be a part of the show and a preview at the same time. As I recall, the original plans called for the ride to exit the show building near the end via a flume-like 'waterfall'. That's a concept that made its way into Splash Mt, and I see no need to duplicate it here. The WRE concept would have to be reworked to fit in DL and a new ending could and should be created.
Oh, and yes, there are Imagineers and other Disney minions that frequent these boards. I'm sure that very little that we discuss here has not been thought of and discussed in Glendale already. Thinking of it is one thing, getting it built is something else again.
Dream big. Do what you love.
^^^ Well at least you lucky west coasters are getting something on the scale of Thunder Mesa (and even vaguely reminiscent of its appearance)...ie Carsland.
I like it now if only i could get to work
Do something with Zorro
Does Disney still have the rights to Zorro? They produced a great series in the '60s with Guy Williams that would make a fine basis for an attraction. I have no idea what type of an attraction it could be, but there seems to be a lot of good unused material there.
In a recent visit to Universal Studios this picture was taken...
I'm guessing that they didn't rip off Zorro so I'm also guessing that Universal has rights... if I'm wrong sorry and let me know
not a kid and still love DISNEYLAND??![]()
