12 Small Procedures to make Disneyland Better

    Frontierland:
    1. Open Fort Wilderness to make Tom Sawyer Island whole again.
    2. Set the settler's cabin on fire again, it was a good effect.
    3. Clean up the Beaver Valley area because it is in bad condition.
    4. Make Big Thunder Ranch into a dining area once again.

    Fantasyland:
    5. Take out all the trees from the Skway area because it looks very gloomy and not so "fantasy"ish.
    6. Convert the Skyway station into a shop, call it "Skyway Shop".
    7. Clean Ariel from Triton Gardens every week because the sun dries her terribly.

    Toontown:
    8. Since the Jolly Trolleys are no longer around, take the stops out.

    Tomorrowland:
    9. Take out Cosmic Waves.
    10. Take out the Tomorrowland jagged rocks.
    11. Repaint the Monorail Track every once in a while because it gets extremely dirty.
    Around the park:
    12. Take out all the Fastpass machines that have been desserted becuase it makes line inconviniences (For Ex: Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Star Tours, and the old Splash Mountain one).

What do u guys thing of these small fixtures? Add some small fixture procedures that you think should be done.

I've always liked the idea of the skyways station becoming a Swiss Hot Chocolate store during the cooler months. I know there's not many of those out here, but it would still be cute.

I think I'd agree with all of these except the two I highlighted. I like IASW in white and gold. I thought the multi-colored scheme was tacky. That's a matter of personal taste, though.

I like the mature landscaping of Disneyland. I'm not sure I'd want to remove any of it.

The ideas of a Skyway Shoppe or Skyway Swiss Hot Chocolate Stand are excellent. I do have another suggestion, though. How about put the dang Skyway back! OK... I'll probably never live to see that. Letting the building just sit there as a home for stray cats does seem a waste, though.

Fortunately, good things seem to be happening at Disneyland lately. I'm guessing that we're going to be pleasantly surprised at a lot of stuff as time goes by.

Which is funny, since IASW was only painted pink in the 90's.

I, for one, am SO glad it's white again!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I like all of your ideas, except for the Small World one. I really prefer the white and gold look that it currently has.

I am too, it's how I remembered it growing up, now if they'd just update the sign in front of IASW to remove the rainbow colors.

    (I fixtured your post.)
They're all right I guess. IASW is already its original color, as others have mentioned.

Now, please sign this release form stating that since you published this list pseudonymously in a publicly available forum, you will not ask (or sue) Disney for anything of value should it decide to implement any of your fixes.

    YES!

    3. Clean up the Beaver Valley area because it is in bad condition.
Convert it into dedicated Fantasmic viewing areana so that it again becomes possible to move around the west side of the park in the evenings.

    4. Make Big Thunder Ranch into a dining area once again.
I like the Woody's Round-up idea that Imagineering is said to be working on.

    Fantasyland:
    5. Take out all the trees from the Skway area because it looks very gloomy and not so "fantasy"ish.
    6. Convert the Skyway station into a shop, call it "Skyway Shop".
    7. Paint it's a Small World back to it's original colorful design.
    dries her terribly.
Engh... this doesn't concern me as much.

    Toontown:
    9. Since the Jolly Trolleys are no longer around, take the stops out.
I think they could take out the signs and leave them as nice little seating areas.

    Tomorrowland:
    10. Take out Cosmic Waves.
    11. Take out the Tomorrowland jagged rocks.
    I like the jagged rocks.

    Around the park:
    12. Take out all the Fastpass machines that have been desserted becuase it makes line inconviniences (For Ex: Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Star Tours, and the old Splash Mountain one).
Mansion is to be used for HMH, yes? Star Tours and old Splash Mt can certainly go. They need to get the stand-by entrance to Splash further away from the exit to HM.

    My top 10.
    1) get Fort Wilderness reopened.
    2) Dedicated Fantasmic areana with a new stage on the side of TSI
    3) Walkway around the north edge of the rivers to eliminate the dead-end that is critter country.

    4) Rework FP return for Indy to let the standby into the inside queue. Rework the exit to make the current standby line into a child-swap/special assistance waiting area to ease egress from the attraction.

    5) Cosmic Waves. Perhaps replace the play area with a big fountain that occasionally sprays water to help cool the area without being a Roman bath.

    6) More work on stroller parking for pirates and mansion.

    7) ODV carts out of town square.

    8) bring back the Golden Horseshoe Review, but make it nighttime only. Billy Hills every hour from 11:00-4:00 then dancing girls and such every hour from 5:00 - 10:00. (fewer shoes off-season, of course) Family friendly day-time. Slightly less at night.

    9) Add lots of fireworks effects to the area around Small World to ease the crush of bodies in the hub.

    10) re-re-do the treehouse.... or just take it out to ease trafic flow.

I don't think they'd call it the Skyway Shop since the Skyway is gone.

Nice ideas. I don't agree with all, but I appreciate the thought that went into it. Several seem like must-do's for the park. I hope management is reading!

Re: 12 Small Procedures to make Disneyland Better

Here are my 12 procedures to make DL better:

    Main Street:

    1. For the Rail Road, put the Grand Canyon Diorama in Frontierland behind the big thunder ranch ( it would be a larger amount of space for the show scenes, and a better transition for Frontierland. ) And extend the Primeevil World diorama with more advanced AAs.

    New Orleans Square:

    2. Add the rumored night time version of the ride that has movie tie-ins with the good old fashion version during the day. Sort of like Space Mountain's rockit mountain.

    Critter Country:

    3. Remove Pooh ( relocation ideas later ) and replace it with a ride theme to the Ranger Woodlore and Humphry the bear cartoons.

    4. Bring back Country Bears

    Fantaseyland:

    5. Pooh will be relocated here with the enterance at the old skyway station and the ride building extended into the Big Thunder Ranch area.

    6. I've always like the idea of IASW changing its color scheme every decade. Do that! Its what they originaly planned to do.

    7. Make the Matterhorn ride more thrilling and exciting with improved special effects and more scary and advanced Abonidable Snow Man animatronics.

    Frontierland:

    8. Keep the petting zoo, but the loose the Home on the Range theme.

    9. Add some kind of shops and a new ride in the Big Thunder ranch area.

    Tomorrowland:

    10. Bring back the subs, but NO NEMO THEME. I know, its already happening whether I like it or not, but I'd perfer a more advanced version with improved special effects, better animatronics, and more amazing encounters. The monorail station will be relocated to the old skyway station.

    11. The new color scheme is nice, but there's no real good themeing. Add alot more futuristic/ sci-fi retro themeing like WDW's and DLP's tomorrowlands.

    12. And finally, bring back the people mover. Rebuild the track so that it goes along the buildings, and the track will have canopies over them. The whole ride is rethemed as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority like WDW's with a whole new narration.

What are your thoughts on mine?
Do you fear death? You fear that dark abyss? All your deeds laid bail. All your sins PUNISHED.

Hmmm... I think they should keep IASM the way it is (it looks more uh.. contemporary) and I agree with most of your ideas, but what's this about turning thunder mountain into a resturaunt? Either I'm reading it wrong, or do you want to take out a popular ride and put in an eatery?

Re: 12 Small Procedures to make Disneyland Better

No big thunder ranch, they want big thunder ranch into an eatery, not mountain

And when I say IASW was a 70's nightmare because of the paint scheme before it went back to white and gold, i don't mean it was painted like that in the 70's, more like it reminded me of the 70's and that it was a nightmare!

Gold stars to the ones I highlighted:
    • Tell me you all didn't like shooting the rifles from the top of Fort Wilderness. And who didn't like the "secret passage" out of the fort?

    • Political correctness aside, who remembers when the cabin fire was set by angry Indians?

    • As far as a Skyway Shop, what better time to pay homage to a classic, albeit departed Disneyland ride? I'm all for it.

    Take care,
    Tim
