So today sence it's raining, and good solid rain, I thought I'd bring up the topic of...... what rides do they shut down due to the rain, and for what reason? Iv'e heard before that they do this sort of thing and Iv'e never been given a good explanation of it, or why they do it. Anybody know why? And do they cover anything up with tarps or anything like that to prevent it from getting wet?
As most rides are inside they don't usually close them down. We've been there in torrential rain (our honeymoon) and they didn't close a single ride down. We were soaking wet on Splash before going up the second lift hill even.
I've seen photos of people riding on Dumbo at WDW during tropical storms (Dumbo in a 40 mph wind is a thrill ride apparently). I guess rides that might get closed would be those where there is a severe slip hazard to the guests. I don't think any of the rides would need to close for a technical reason though. Maybe some CMs or others have further information.

I know Alice closes in the rain, not sure what others have to.
A little piece of heaven
Alice, teacups and treehouse close in the rain. The list gets signifigantly longer if there's lightning. Don't know exactly why Alice closes, teacups is because they literally fill up, and treehouse is because you'll slip and fall out of a big fake tree.

DL in the rain is the best thing ever! If you don't mind getting wet, there will be NO lines and everyone is in a GREAT mood because they're all like you - they don't care about the rain either! Have a puddle-jumping contest with some other adults in Fantasyland - nothing better in the world!

The island will be closed in the rain the top deck of the Twain will be closed and if it was a day it should be running the Columbia would close. If the rain is really really heavy causing water levels to rise Jungle and the Boats on the river could close if it raises a De-railing threat. One year all our boats at Jungle de-railed due to the rain
Gadget's Go-Coaster used to have to close when it rains.
If it started to drizzle, operators had to keep an eye on the train to make sure it wasn't slipping on the lift. If it did, even slightly, that was the last run until it stopped raining and the track dried up a bit.
Not like many of you go on it... but for completion's sake.
The golden Zeypher closes if the wind is over 3 miles per hour.
