Wow... it seems lately we are making a halibut of derailing these threads. It's like you guys are Hooked on it. I don't want to be the one to stand on some perch and preach to you folks about the importance of staying on topic, but honestly, if it was your thread, you'd be singing another tuna. So, let's all clam up, quit being shellfish, and answer get back to what the OP had intended. Sorry, didn't mean to mussle in here.

Not saying yea or nay about the carousel, HOWEVER, there is a horse on the carousel that has a gold tooth, which is rumored to be Walt's wife's favorite horse to ride!

Perhaps the best way to homage Walt, is to only go on rides that were there by his death, anything after that should be hands off! In that case for sure the railroad would be a first ride must do, then up main street into the castle, (not going on Pinochio mind you) then over to It's a Small World!!!

Trying to get us back on track...

Depending on when you are going, time permitting, I think showing them the Disney Treasures DVDs "Disneyland USA" as well as/or "Your Host Walt Disney" is a great way for kids to see that Walt was a real, flesh and blood guy who had an idea and along with some help, made it happen. He talks about the park, his projects, ideas and goals... many of which would then be recognizable once they visit.

The DVDs are available at NetFlix if could be on your doorstep in about three days time.

Don't be such a crab. The Sturgeon General recommends derailing as being benefishal to your health. It's better to be shark witted and roll with the tide. Besides, breaking the rules on porpous is such fun.

Well put. Walt's spirit is everywhere througout. His personal touches remain in each of the lands that existed in his lifetime.

Great idea, mickeyandme. By the same token, there are of couse books (containing pictures) about the history of Disneyland. Folks can also view old souvenir park guidebooks. This would all be a fun and educational way of helping those unfamiliar with the history recognize the parts of the park that existed in Walt's day.

Re: Where is Walt in Disneyland?

I think Walt lives in the details.

Ever go on Storybook land and look to see how the Matterhorn lines up with the sight lines of the snowy mountain scenery of that little house on the hill?

Ever wonder where Tinkerbell lands after circling the castle?

Notice the incredible detailed story line of Pirates? Complete with the hairy leg of the guy on top of the bridge?

Ever notice that once you step under the tracks the outside world nearly disappears?

Walt is everywhere. His initials are in the railing of the balcony that used to be the Gallery. The big WD is carved into the "trees" backdrop of Toon Town.

The light is still on above the fire station.

Walt is and always will be Disneyland.

Re: Where is Walt in Disneyland?

Someone mentioned Jungle and they are partially correct. There is plenty of photos of various scenes being built over the years... but the Boathouse and current boats were recent additions. If you are looking for Walt, look around at the Jungle itself, some of the largest trees predate the park itself.

Where's Walt... stripped shirt, blue pants, stripped benie and a pair of glasses... ohhh found him.

A different approach to the question...

In the Baby Center on Main Street one can see Walt's own baby picture.

In the Cristal D'Orleans in NOS one can see a one of a kind crystal etching of Walt.
