I heard there was something special ( special greetings by characters??) today instead of A Christmas Fantasy Parade because of the weather. Did anyone take a picture of that? I want to see it!)

Glad too see some part of California get some rain. (The whole state needs it badly.) Too bad it's during the preparation for the event.
Thank you for the photos LDF.

Does anyone know how well the character were in the rain. I remember one year when it was raining I had meet Cinderella,Prince Charming and Mulan inside the Mad Hatter shop. So was there any characters out and what happens with the Princess over at PFF. Do they cancel the show and the meet and greet there or does it go on in the rain?

    Thanks for the great pictures!

Disneyland was great today in the rain! Lines were short and it was not very crowded at all. Only drawback was both showings of the Christmas Parade were canceled. They did have the 9:00 Fantasmic (10:30 show was canceled) and the Believe..In Holiday Magic fireworks went off right on time in a heavy drizzle. No snow of course.. Right after the show, the music kind of abruptly cut off before White Christmas would begin. But it was still a great day!

As someone noted, yes, there are now HUGE clouds with "Year of a Million Dreams" above the Disneyland turnstyles. There is also some of that "gold pixie dust trail" going around as well. Guess it was only a matter of time....

(Part II: Rain, Rain, and...more rain.)

That poor horse. Hmmm....maybe he (or she) enjoys the change in the weather:

Today was a learning experience for me as I've never tried shooting with my Nikon D80 in the rain. Much of today was point and shoot as I was doing it with one hand which ain't easy with an 18 - 200 lens. The other hand was holding the umbrella...trying to keep the rain off of the lens.

In any case...did I mention I love Disneyland in the rain? One of the neat things about cold, dark rainy days at the DLR is that they leave many of the lights on Mainstreet, and throughout the park, on...which gives it a cheery glow in spite of the weather.

And for us Southern Californians, the rain, somehow, just FEELS more like Christmas. I mean...if it's 54 degrees and raining....dang. Winter has arrived!

This group cracked me up. I guess they were part of a tour, but I could NOT figure out what they were looking at. One of the names in the windows maybe? Elias Disney, general contractor?

Again...after 9 am on a holiday season weekend. Pretty sparse, eh?

I don't think I've ever seen so many ponchos in my entire life. And they came in all shapes and sizes:

I like the little touches, like the wreath on the car....

    Around the hub...

Through the castle, which seemed exceptionally dark in the rain...

And check out this line for Peter Pan:

Yeah, it's sad. I wonder why they didn't decorate it with Christmas decor like they do at halloween. Put some large ornaments up there in the shape of the Fab Five, etc. They're missing a huge theming opportunity.

    Wish I was there!
We have only managed to be there on a rainy day a couple times. It was wonderful! Only in Disneyland does it have such a magical effect! Each year we go hoping for one good rainy day.

Re: Photo Update 11/30: Rain, Rain, Rain and Candlelight set up

(Part III - Did I mention rain?)

So where was I? Ah yes. Fantasyland:

I like this shot. It's like Monstro is keeping an eye on them. Those CMs had their hands full all over the park trying to keep 3 - 4 inch puddles from forming...

The colors tend to pop out more in the rain. I may have mentioned that earlier. No Storybook ride at 9:15 AM, but they were up and running, albeit with story teller pochos, by 11:00.

Not too much activity at the Big Thunder Ranch:

I don't know if they run Santa's Reindeer Round Up in the rain. I'm thinking not.

I thought it was very cool that the Mark Twain also had it's lights on...

Big Thunder was running....for those crazy poncho wearing individuals who don't mind the rain...

    Check out the line:

The Rivers of America, at times, looked like it was boiling with rain coming down heavier periodically. Here's a merged shot:

    Not much activity on TSI:

This guy didn't seem to care much at all...

And with the lights on, the Mark Twain looks even more amazing in the rain...

    The court of Angels...

(More to come. I keep running out of time! )
