Re: Photo Update 11/30: Rain, Rain, Rain and Candlelight set up

The park looks wonderful in the rain. All the plants really stand out.

It is also nice to see a good rain like that. I haven't seen that in quite some time. Everything in the park looks like it got a nice rinse from the downpour. I suppose Space Mountain is nice and white again?

ooohhh pretty!!! Love the pics, and esp. love THE RAIN!!! Although I am hoping we don't get any this weekend because as much as I love Disneyland in the rain, driving for two hours in the dark in the rain is not my idea of a fun time.

    Awesome shots as always!

I love DL in the rain. No lines, no crowds. You almost feel like you have the park to yourself. Last time I was there in the rain was March of 06 for my sons 4th birthday. Right after we finished his birthday at the Plaza, the clouds opened up and it started to pour. They made a killing of selling those ponchos that weekend.

LDF, thanks for all these pictures! I know it couldn't have been easy trying to take pictures in the rain. But it's awesome to see the park under these conditions. Thanks so much!

    (Part V)

It never struck me before until I took the following shot. What do these poor smokers do when it's coming down in buckets and freezing outside? Apparently, they grab and umbrella and head out to the smokers' section. I'm no fan of second hand smoke, but that's kind of a bummer that they have to stand out in the rain:

Some of the train conductors came prepared:

I posted this shot of the new dream clouds in the "EWWWWW" thread. I called it "The back side of ugly."

Toon town, which was directly behind me in the shot, was basically deserted. Not much going on in and around this area of Fantasyland either. The Princess Faire and Jedi Training were both cancelled as well, I believe. The wind really picked up at this point and I was freezing my butt off.

"It's a world of wetness, a world of cold...."

I'm thinking the engineers were enjoying this. From what I've read, it's gets a bit toasty next to the boiler...

I thought the tree looked exceptionally nice in the rain...

As my teeth were now chattering (I got pretty wet after the wind picked up) I thought I would cut through the warm Emporium. Quite a few other folks had the same idea. Mickey ponchos were flying off the shelves...

You can really tell what the weather is like outside by comparing these two lines:

    Example A: Blue Ribbon Bakery...

Example B: Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor:

There was already a line in front of the Golden Horseshoe when I arrived. As many of the outdoor venues were closed, everyone seemed to be looking for shelter. When I finally made it in, the place packed out very quickly. I don't think I've ever been to a show during the daylight hours when it looked so DARK looking out from inside. The decorations were up and it was the perfect place to grab lunch on a rainy day:

Most of the Billy set was the same from the Fall, but one of the Billys took some time to play some carols on the guitar. Very cool. This guy is awesome:

After lunch, and after I dried off, it was back out to the rain, which was now coming down harder than ever:

Umbrellas and ponchos as far as the eye could see:

Another couple shots of the NOS decorations:

(More to come....almost done! If you have time, please check back later for some of my favorite shots! )

No problem! I've been WAITING for a loooooong time for a chance to go in the rain, and Friday was one of my best days in the park ever! Christmas in Disneyland....in the rain. For me, it just doesn't get any better than that.

Well...considering the amazing shots you've taken of WDW, I think you must have an incredible camera. I was really worried about what might happen to my Nikon, but I tried my best to keep the water off with the umbrella....which got to be rather acrobatic at times. In spite of my efforts, the wind began to blow quite a bit of rain on the body of the lens, but fortunately not on the glass. I tried to towel it off and was hoping that I wouldn't have to deal with condensation when I went in for lunch. It all seems to be working fine now, after all that moisture, so maybe it will be ok. I checked the book that came with it, but they didn't say ANYTHING about using it in the rain. Maybe they figure it's just common sense NOT to.

I am not sure if this is appropiate. Please let me know if it is. I miss wearing the rain gear, it would make me look like one GIANT, colorful condom!! LOL, if you know what the Tomorrowland costume look like, you would probably agree!!
