What i don't understand about the current "administration", at the resort, they don't have an original idea, among them. I mean, if you put 100 monkeys in a room full of typewriters, they'll eventually write Shakespeare. Why don't we lock all of the imagineers at WDI, in a room, until they come up with an "original" idea that only DLR will have. maybe, we should just change the name back to WED, maybe that would make a small change.

DLR get original idea.. you have a few... WDW has a few.. thought I vote more original at both resorts... angungst the clones... (like remove one of the 3-d movies from DCA.. 2 is over kill.. i dont care thats cheap... you could import a show from WDS and modify it if you wanted to repalce one of them....)

Why ask for a clone? How about something entirely different - one of the new wet/dry rides would be wonderful. Most of all, it has to be Family Friendly, something that DCA seems to lack. A very visual ride that isn't too fast and takes a rather long time to ride would be about perfect. (Our main complaint about RnRC was that it was so short! Too much line and not enough ride.)
Tweak the theming, then bring in the rides that make sense. I see "Hollywood" and rock and roll Isn't the first thing that comes to mind. This brings us full circle to the argument that DCA is both poorly themed and executed. It needs depth and a clone of RnRC won't provide that.

A Rock 'n' Roller Coaster type of ride (with a different theme) would rule. There would be plenty of room in the Hollywood area as rhere is lots of wasted space.. I would like to see a combination LIM or LSM coaster (with loops and corkscrews) in a dry to wet (and other special effects) dark ride environment.

    Re: Rockin' Roller Coaster

what DCA needs is stated correct.. Family rides.. not extreme rides.. there is enough for teens already.. not family.. thats what makes DL right.. Family entertaignment and thrills...

DCA needs more family.. (and a bit less history..)

That's for darn sure. I can pretty much count the number of DCA rides that families can enjoy together on one hand. I am hoping that thr rumored Tist Trackish ride themed to the upcoming Pixar CARS CG film will be a a family oriented E-ticket.

Maybe that new rumored CARS E-ticket will be the solution for family rides.

On a different note, I think Disney should try to get something goin with Willy Wonka. I mean, they have startours, indiana jones, and tarzan (all movies and ideas made up outside of disney) so why not get Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? have a huge pre show in the chocolate factory, then ride his crazy boat! I think it'd be fun at least!

40 inches. That's not bad at all, I don't think, compared to RnRC's 48" requirement. Test Track only really prevents kids under age 5 from riding, which is a pretty minimal portion of the population that doesn't actually get in the parks for free. I'd welcome the brand new, custom-made Cars E-Ticket much more, and it could go much faster than RnRC. RnRC is over-rated, I think. It's all about the launch...after the cobra roll they over-use trim brakes and the rest of the ride feels like it's going about 30 mph through cardboard cut-outs. Disney can do better. The audio makes RnRC...if I didn't have "Dude Looks Like a Lady!" pulsing through the speakers, it would be a pretty boring ride. It's all turns...I prefer Screamin'...a few good turns and that nice helix at the end, and much more airtime than RnRC has. It mixes everything I love from wooden and steel coasters, and it is such a long ride...at least twice as long as RnRC. It's the missing audio that is unacceptable, so it's good that Screamin' is getting a several month rehab soon now that there is maybe one train with audio.

Vekoma coasters age VERY quickly and become incredible painful...try riding one of their inverted coasters that 90% of Six Flags parks feel the need to clone. They are headbangers the moment they open and within 3 years there is no enjoyment to be had from them, only pain and a bad headache. Luckily RnRC is indoors...I am a bit wary of Expedition EVEREST being largely outdoors and designed by Vekoma...

I have always known Intamin AG to produce coasters that are far smoother than Vekoma but far less reliable, most significantly the fact that they couldn't build a train for the rides if their lives depended on it (look at their Superman hyper coasters that were so dangerous that they now staple you very uncomfortably into your seat so you aren't launched out of the car as several individuals have been). I think Bolliger and Mabillard is the best, myself, but Disney would never work with them because they are very snotty (B&M) and won't build exactly what Disney wants. At least they didn't go with Premier...we would have gotten lap bars instead of OTS restraints (which is the only positive of working with Premier) though...Screamin' really has no need for its OTS restraints. Lap bars would more than suffice.

my guess is that, if there is to be a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, would be put in at a Six Flags park, only becuase, i think Six Flags ahs exclusive rights to Warner Bros. movies.

Yes. There is a minimum height requirement of 40 inches. The new CARS ride will apparently be a headliner that is geared toward families with bigger children. It is an exciting compromise. In addition to the coming Monsters Inc. dark ride, I am certain there are other rides in the planning stages for young kids as well.

    Re: Rockin' Roller Coaster

California Adventure has California Screamin' ... That's good enough for fast roller coasters that's are really very underthemed. If they got a good, highly themed ride like Thumder Mountain or Matterhorn then that would be good. But if you want a fast rollercoaster in the dark with a good soundtrack, then go ride the new Space Mountain. RNRC is all black-lit cutouts. So cheap and underthemed...

And I hope if there is a Cars ride it isn't as overly underwhelming as TestTrack is. I rode Test Track yesterday at Epcot for the first time and I was hugely disappointed... The only decent part was the fast part around the building. And not even that was very impressive.

As for the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride- it would be incredible if Disney could get the film rights and make a ride based on the glass elevator. Passengers board an elevator similar to the Tower of Terror elevators, but all clear and the elevator takes you on a fast and wacky chocolate factory tour. It could be great, no?
